The children? Will they be happy? Dont think anyone has asked that question.

    Yay nice story there :)

O/h and I have talked about adoption/surrogacy quite extensively and decided against it, though I have great admiration for those who face such hurdles to become parents.

Do we have any reason to believe the children will be unhappy?

I'm sure they will be fine. Why shouldn't they be happy?

Yes, I think the children will be happy when being with his/her parents.

Indeed, and the children will know how much they were wanted - I am sure they will have wonderful childhoods with two such loving parents.

    Selfish parents?

What's selfish about wanting to be a parent?

Why can I see smoke coming out of your ears Roger at the lack of desired 'outrage' at this story? You must be fuming!

Lol of course not. Seem to have stumbled into the guardian readers society so not getting much balanced debate. Il admit that is a bit frustrating. Hopefully tomorrow some realists will pop in and balance it up. Night.^_^

You could change a few variables and put this lot on the Jeremy Kyle show and everybody here would call them trash. For some reason it's a fairytale story though

I don't care either way, good luck to them. But it is a bit of a mess

I'm no Guardian reader, but I find the story endearing :)

    Sweet dreams ;-)

Seem to have stumbled upon a guardian convention. Seeing as a 50 year old would not be allowed to adopt, going out and "buying" 3 surrogate children is selfish in the extreme. Totally disagree with this. I shall watch closely to see how it unfolds.
Hmm why the guardian? Could it be because you mistakenly belief supporting gay people or gay rights is something only left leaning people do? If so how offensive to people who are right wing for economical reasons or for tougher stances on law yet support gay people having the exact same rights as them. I am not right wing myself but some of my family are and they have varied opinions on things so it's best not to see things so black and white or in this case left wing/right wing. There is often some overlap for many people.:)

    That's a lovely story.

I'd like to thank the OP for finding all these stories about gay people and starting threads about them. I'd certainly know less about the gay community if it wasn't for Roger :D
He is a great ambassador for ending homophobia.:D

Why would they not be happy? Like all families there will be challenges but at least their parents actually want them unlike some straight parents who unintentionally get pregnant.

I agree. The children will have parents in a loving relationship and be wanted. What more do they need?

Exactly but some seem to hate the idea of children being raised by a gay couple, in some extreme cases like Russia they even ban gay people from adopting abandoned children. So homophobes would rather a child be stuck in a orphanage with no family than be raised by people who would love them just cause they disapprove of the couples relationship.>:(

If the right is about free choice and individualism, and the left about socialism and the greater good, surely to want to control aspects of anothers life on the presumption you're 'protecting' someone or something is a leftist perspective? If you were truly right wing you'd surely want to leave them alone to lead their individual lives rather lives than interfere?

Lets say a pair of parents decide to send their children to a boarding school. Would you deny them the right to educate their child because the removal of a normal family environment for sustained period may cause them harm?

(As it happens I'm neither left nor right but can never understand some right wings obsession with interfering with certain groups when surely it goes against their political norms).

I hear exactly what you are saying. I don't get how people can be so hung up on the idea of two men bringing up a child in a stable and decent environment, they actually forget about what's best for the child.

Would they rather the child be dragged up by a Waynetta Slob or left abandoned and unloved?

Sadly they would because this world is so hateful and people are obsessed by a us and them mentality.:(

Well done Roger for highlighting such a great story! Triplets eh? That is fantastic and their parents are going to be busy but their lives are going to be full of love and laughter. I have twin daughters now nine years old and they are a constant source of joy to me.

You wouldnt get through the process if older than 50.

I have a friend who is 56 who has recently undertaken to foster three children until they are adults.
