At least it's openly rude. Too often the passive agressive :) rears it's punchable smiley face.

I feel the same way about the confused smiley, I've seen it used quite often by posters who aren't confused at all they just enjoy baiting folk.

I've always thought the confused smiley was mis-named - and therefore misused. It would be better known as the "puzzled" smiley.

I rather like it. But I can be mean ;)

See now I see the winky one as much more annoying. It seems to roll patronizing, condescending and "I am better and far more intelligent than you" all into one.

Want to wind Betty up? Do the winky smilie (cue "amusing" replies containing the winky smilie)

PS. Not a dig at you Lizzy, just the smilie:)

See, now that's another one that should be renamed. "Conspiratorial smiley" springs to mind, though it's a bit of a mouthful.

In certain contexts it's probably the rudest smiley here :p.

Let have a vote then. Which smiley to outlaw.

I don't know how to set up a vote, so someone else can do it :)

I think it is a handy thing, online, as if someone uses it you can assume they are a bit of a dick, yawn, and move on.

Don't think I've ever responded when one has been used.

There was a regular in Showbiz who used it in almost every post but she has disappeared thankfully.

Yep, it's one of those things on forums that mark out people who use it as being superior twits. It's considered 'bad form' on most forums and often the FM will get hounded for it. And rightly so.

Lol, Yeh irl I'd use something more impactful to express my amazement. But  is pretty much on the line in terms of getting a ban. :D:D

It has no redeeming qualities. None. Zero...

Like for instance if you're gonna make a sob story thread and at any point you insert the roll eyes smiley in the OP then I will have no sympathy for you. In fact, I'll go far to say that karma has worked out perfectly.

I think it's insulting and a horrible smiley. To me, the only people who use it are people who think they are being clever and better than anyone else.
    It irritates me...
