Lots of people now have free call packages but not free to 0844/0845/0870.
Our local gp's changed back to 0207 due to complaints.
Many people get free 0845 & 0870 calls in their package, and not everyone wants or needs a 24/7 package. If you call outside your package (assuming your package isn't 24/7), then an 0844 call will be cheaper than a local call (from a BT landline).
Since when?
Not if your package includes calls, surely?
I don't know when it started, but I first noticed it several months ago. I have a free evening/weekend calls package with BT, and on the rare occasion when I've made calls outside that, the cost of a call to an 0844 number has been cheaper than a call to a local number, for a call of the same length, per my BT statement.
Of course if you have a calls package then local calls are free within the package, whereas all 0844 calls need to be paid for. I'm simply pointing out the cost difference to those who don't have a 24/7 calls package; 0844 calls aren't as expensive as some people think.
