Groundhog Day
Field Of Dreams
Blade Runner (final cut)
Dogville
The Life Of Brian
Talk To Her
Pink Floyd's The Wall
Scindler's List
Goodfellas. There is not one word uttered with the wrong intonation. Each line is said with the perfect pitch and tone not only from the main actors but also the cameo performances. The screenplay is also perfect, making the film's realism frighteningly brilliant.
Thank you. Jaws is one of my Mum's favorite films. It is exceptional. I remember watching it when I was about 5 and I remember how I felt watching some of the scenes to this day.
Lawrence of Arabia
A Clockwork Orange
2001: A Space Odyssey
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
Amadeus
Some Like It Hot
I Vitelloni
Matrimonio all'italiana

La Reine Margot
Elizabeth
The Empire Strikes Back
Empire of the Sun
Trainspotting
Life of Brian
The Princess Bride
The Silence of the Lambs
Raiders of The Lost Ark
so many great films listed, I was expecting a few poor ones to creep but they are all really great films bar blade runner. Which im sure a lot of people consider it great but I thought it was utter trash, very over hyped film. Also glad titanic and avatar have not been spoken yet
one criterion must be a film you can watch repeatedly without wanting to fast forward over some bits.
there aren't many, are there?
That was pretty much criterion used for my list .
Plus, every element coming together - script, acting, casting, cinematography, production, etc - and pretty much nailing it. There are loads of films I love, but don't consider 'perfection' because they fail on one of those. But still great nonetheless.
Now I think about, should have included Aliens and Predator as well. I sometimes get tempted to f-fwd when rewatch, but just get sucked into it and end up glued

eg I could watch the training half of Full Metal Jacket on a permanent loop, but never bother with the second half.
Ooooh yes, there are.
I rarely use the fast-forward button when rewatching a film. I do mute films now and then, though. I can't stand the dog-kennel scene in The Thing, a film I've watched roughly 20 times over years. The dogs' yelps upsets me, so I mute the film until the scene is over.
Sometimes, for fun, I mute an old favourite completely and put an album on, then listen to music while watching the film. The last film I did this to is Pitch Black a month ago.

Agree about Blade Runner.I've tried to get into it about three times in my life to see if I'm missing something but I don't like it.I appreciate the visuals, especially for it's time, but that's it.
Okay, I appreciate not likely to be named by many (nobody else around here certainly) but the script is razor sharp and stands up to this day. All the performances are brilliant, Sir John Geilguid won an oscar.

It's just hilarious.
I'd agree with that, it's a phenomenal comedy.
I'd like to add Groundhog Day too, just a sublime piece of movie making.
The Great Escape
The Magnificent Seven
Castaway
Back to the Future
And Then There Were None
Champions
Bostock's Cup
It's A Wonderful Life
Shawshank Redemption
Goodfellas
Gran Torino
Young Guns
and of course (surprised it hasn't cropped up yet)... Airplane.
You couldnt accuse it of being short on laughs
Comedies are more difficult but Monty Python's The Search for the Holy Grail is near perfect. Four Weddings and a Funeral and Life of Brian almost are too, bar Andie McDowell in the former and a slight 15 min lull in the latter.
Special mentions to Escape to Victory and Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure which were perfect for me but not too many others!
It's a Wonderful Life
Mrs Doubtfire (Robin Williams is genius and perfectly cast)
Aladdin (As above, and stunning songs and animation)
Beauty and the Beast (groundbreaking animation, great story, great songs)
Monsters Inc. (So imaginative, hilarious, perfect animation)
Back to the Future
Bridget Jones' Diary
Paddington 1 & 2
Stand By Me
Goodfellas
Boyz n the Hood
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Psycho
Matilda
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
Joker
Mrs Doubtfire
Home Alone 1 + 2
An American Werewolf in London
Terminator 2
The Silence of the Lambs

Meddle and Space Odyssey is even better
I'd add The Great Escape insofar as it encapsulates every emotion possible and is one of the few films where nothing could have improved it.
The Princess Bride
Once Upon a Time in America.
