Downloading HD shows on PC

Hi all, I have a query that I hope some of you may be able to answer.
I have recently purchased an Toshiba 37X3030D LCD and all is well, however I am currently undecided as to get V+ or Sky HD. Until I have decided this I was wondering if I download US HD shows onto my PC then connect my PC to my LCD and watch the shows, will I get the full benefit of the HD content?
This is a question that has caused arguments among me and my friends so hope someone out there can provide me with an answer. Thanks.

The moral/ethical dilemma in obtaining said content is upto you:)
If it's HD then at this time the VM service is sadly lacking but the SKY service isn't cheap:)
