    Lawless - 7/10

    JFK (1991) - 9/10

Kevin Costner's summing up of the prosecution's case is electrifying.

I watched Lawless last night. I didn't think much of it. It was very slow moving and unengaging for the most part.

Consenting Adults [2012]. Director: Alan J. Pakula

    3/10

Don't wife-swap with the neighbourhood psycho. A dumb idea that soon gets dumber.

Alan J. Pakula passed away in 1998, so I doubt that film came out in 2012.

    The Drop
Described as a crime thriller film with a twist, I was expecting big things from this movie, especially with Tom Hardy attached to it. Whilst its not a cr@p film, it is by no means as great as the trailers etc would have you believe nor what I really expected from the film. Tom Hardy (What. A. Role. :D) is bloody brilliant in it (as he is in pretty much everything he's been in), but the story just plods along and seems to have a lot of misdirection when the plot is much similar than it would have you believe (I thought the dog was going to be more crucial to the plot). There is a little twist at the end which is pretty good and the main performances are great - especially Hardy - and the dark humour was brilliantly amusing IMO. The film however appears somewhat misleading and is very slow paced where at times it tends to feel like its dragging. Its by no means awful, but it wouldn't make it onto my favourite film list. Worth a watch, but not sure I could watch it again unlike some of the other Tom Hardy films. 6/10.

I can't think of anything I dislike about it. I would have rated it higher if the plot was more intricate but I enjoyed it as it was.

Yes. That's the one with Kevin Spacey, before he was 'Kevin Spacey'.

    Weekend (2011)

Starring Tom Cullen of Downton fame who was absolutely stunning in a role which couldn't be more different from Lord Gillingham. Mesmerising film, quite 'talky' but compelling. The chemistry between the two leads was palpable.
I loved it and can't see how it passed me by at the time. It's instantly become one of my favourite films ever.

Grave of the Fireflies - 4/10.

It had been recommended to me by a few people, but I found it boring and I didn't shed a tear because the characters were just kind of irritating.

The Magnificent Eleven [2013]. Director: Jeremy Wooding

    4/10

The title's the best thing about this tale of an amateur football team made up of cowboy builders getting sponsorship from a local Indian restaurant. They even roped Robert Vaughn into appearing in it.

Not bad at all despite being ignored by the cinemagoers and critics. RIP James

The Saw team start off making a Paranormal Activity yarn without the found footage gimmick then go all Poltergeist at the end. Original it ain't.

The Imitation Game (this morning at my local Vue Cinema) 9/10

A very moving and ultimately sad film. Benedict Cumberbatch is amazing as Alan Turing.
