Helen is 'all sound and fury signifying nothing' she hasnt the intellect to process her responses she is reactive .However Matthew could have retained his composure as he has the higher ground intellectually.Helen has issues and in true Neanderthal style Ash defends his woman.Matthews comment about her body was above the belt.
I don't think Matthew has a superiority complex. He's just very self-assured and self-possessed, so people's criticism doesn't bother him so much. It's a good way to be.
