Yes but a camera is one of many things phones are trying to imitate in todays market. BUT in saying that 2 megapixel is still very good if you were to set an average in megapixels in phone cameras atm id say 2 would be pretty much right.

The CCD means practically nothing though without a good lens.
A 1.3mp camera with a decent auto-focus lens will take much better pics than a 2mp camera without.
I had a W850i and the quality of pics from the 2mp camera on that were shocking, all down to the lack of AF.
I now have an N95 with 5mp camera (Carl Zeiss lens, auto focus) and the quality is not a patch on a dedicated compact camera.
Guess how may megapixels the Iphone is going to have...
Unless the lens is top notch, going up to crazy high resolution like 5MP on a mobile is a waste of time. It just highlights the flaws in the optical system.
I'm not very in the know about the whole megapixels issue but from what i do know anything like 3 megapixels and up is actually pointless because desktops these days have average maximum resolutions that amount to 2 megapixels surely, where do such extremes as 5mp come into use?
The phone I'm getting has a 2mp camera, with decent enough detail despite not having a well known lense or autofocus so ill think myself lucky lol.

It's a phone, not a digital camera?
If you want top quality pics, buy a camera?

Great for snap shots, but not for anything else.
