Family bereavement, sister split up with her boyfriend, and everyone in my family seemed to be stressed, ill, tired or unhappy for most of the year. So my sentence would be:

"2012 can do one! Roll on 2013."

    Negative:
Scandals - Hillsborough, Libor, Savile, Plebgate.

    Positive:
The year after Cav wins the Green Jersey, Wiggo wins the Yellow Jersey!

Its been busy, emotional, hard work, insightful, fascinating, but I'll mainly remember it for the wonderful person who reached out and saved me from total meltdown.

All in all, one of the most interesting and eventful of recent years.

It was the year of fire,
    The year of destruction,
The year we took back what was ours.

It was the year of rebirth,
    The year of great sadness,
    The year of pain,
    And a year of joy.

    It was a new age.

It was the end of history.

It was the year everything changed.

Apart from graduating with a First in September (after 5 years of part-time study combined with working), the rest of the year has been rubbish. My job has become unbearable, I feel constantly let down by other people and I'm fed up with becoming more and more skint as the year has gone on, despite me and my other half working about 65 hours a week between us. Add to that yesterday's MOT repair bill of £612 just before Crimbo - I'll give 2012 a resounding meh.

All around us it was as if the universe was holding its breath.... waiting.

All of life can be broken down into moments of transitions, or moments of revelation, this had the feeling of both.

The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender.

The future is all around us, waiting in moments of transition to be born in moments of revelation. No-one knows the shape of this future or where it will take us, we know only that it is born in pain.
