I assumed it was IVF as soon as I heard it was twins, when it was confirmed as a boy and a girl it pretty much sealed it - the odds are too long for it to be likely to be natural (though possible). And it doesn't matter if there are twins in Brad Pitt's family - the multiple egg thing is passed down the female line not the male - so fraternal twins would have to be in Angelina's family.

Still - does it matter, apart from being midly interesting that even two beautiful people who seem to have it all have problems conceiving children, who cares. They have the children they wanted. Lucky them.:)

I don't believe it personally. If they'd wanted more kids yet found they had been unable to concieve they probably would have just adopted a few more instead.

I thought that she might have had it since multiple babies are common with IVF.

why do peole talk about IVF like it's a terrible thing, loads of couples all over the world go through IVF and end up with beautiful babies that they otherwise wouldn't have, can't see how that's a bad thing myself

I weighed 7.5 stone (and am 5' 5") and fell pregnant within 2 months so it's possible to be underweight and fall pregnant quickly. Thought I'd read somewhere that her and her brother were twins......probably wrong though and I imagined it!

So what if she had IVF? No big deal!

ivf or no ivf (and quite frankly, who cares? they can afford it so why is it a big deal? ) you cannot choose what sex babies you have, no matter how much money you've got!

You can, but not in the UK. Gender selection is available in the US though, and many European countries.

I don't know if I believe that Angie and Brad had IVF though. It does seem possible but as someone else said, IVF is a lengthy and difficult process. I'm more inclined to believe she was taking something like Clomid, which can cause multiple egss to be released.

Also, fraternal twins CAN be passed down the father's side. My sister is having twins, and her partner's aunt and uncle are twins. Until a few weeks ago, her Dr said it was most likely that this was the contributing factor, as she is quite young, has had no fertility treatments and this is her first pregnancy. However, it has since been discovered that she is having identical twins, which are a complete fluke.

I think with fraternal twins, two sperms can fertilise one egg OR two eggs can be released. So the male line can influence the former and the female line the latter :)

Agreed. Angelina's expressed a wariness before of having too many biological children, so I'd wonder about her and Brad actually having IVF.

Good luck to them regardless. I like them and they're gonna need it with all those kids.

there's gotta be two eggs for fraternal twins so it's through the mother's side:) if there's only one egg then the twins will be identical

I must admit, this is exactly what I said to my sister, but her 'Twin Specialist' Dr is adamant that fraternal twins can be influenced by the father!

Maybe she's carrying out a new, secret study! :D

Well I don't see the issue either way. Besides it's none of our business.

well it was worth it, having received an estimated $30m for the sale of the photo's of said twins! One set sold to People, and other sold for worldwide publication by Hello! Or some other rubbish magazine.

Don't forget it will get sent to "charity" :D

Some celebs probably have it done to make sure they conceive within a certain time frame, book a cesarean too. Then it's back to work.

IVF must be different in celeb land then. Despite going to the best clinic in the UK I've been trying for 2 years - my time frame must be more flexible.

    They stated in the interview

'If they had been conceived through IVF we would have been happy to discuss it.'

And why not? They've never been shy about discussing how many children they want and how quickly.

I have to say if they had conceived via IVF then I don't think they would lie about it.

It's no surprise people ask questions though, taking into account the 'trend' for twins at the moment.
