Regardless of the show's pacing/format problems, the interaction and critique of the coaches are terrible. Particularly last night, I thought. There was a very weird atmosphere involving Jessie J and Tom. Any attempts at banter fell flat. Very odd.
With no offence to either to Tom or Jessie it's like asking a grandfather to banter with a granddaughter. It's going to be very weird; they're from different generations with a different outlook on humour. The X Factor had (potentially has) the same issue with Tulisa and Gary, with the latter old enough to be the former's father. Of course, age difference isn't always a problem - eg. Louis' such a big kid on The X Factor he can get on with the younger panelists - but it can limit banter and changes the dynamics of the panel because of it.

I feel a comparison to BGT is unfair because TV has the team aspect and thus, the competitiveness, but the BGT panel just work. There's banter, there's warmth, humour.
Well, let's be honest, what's distinctive about it at this point anyway? Might as well borrow things that will make it better. The things they are doing to try to make it distinctive are why the format is flawed IMO.
Have the acts perform every week as opposed to alternating weeks.
Reduce teams to 3 artists per coach to necessitate this.
No more voting one act off per team - we're losing good singers as a result. Make it a straight elimination.
Make the results show live and introduce a sing-off.
Will was great tonight and the highlight of the series to me. Tom just needs a bit of practise (who to replace him with?).
Jessie...problematic...I'll wait for her acts next week but so far shes on the thumbs down from me.
Agree with Danny. Overall I think that the alternating weeks work; but only if theres stength in each week. So getting rid of that to me is a bit of a kick reaction.

Generally I found no problem with tonights show. In fact it was great and BGT was better than I expected too (ran quickly which is a good sign for the average imo).
Personally I think theres a lot of too quick to react going on. Auditions were slightly inflated by the circumstances and the live shows have some tough scheduling. I don't think we need to tear them apart. Certainly this week had no problems with the live show for me.
Only problem is that next week we have Danny/Jessie and I suppose ur right that no altering weeks would stop this. But I think its fine. End of the day it means more weeks out of the format/money.
None of this is to say what you say I disagree with, they need changes for series 2 (all these shows do); I'm just going to wait a bit to make those statements myself

With her supposed comments its questionable what kind of relationships now exist between the coaches and inevitable this will become news one day. At the auditions stage I would have said it was a dead cert all would return, but now anything is possible.
I've not seen The Voice this week (still to see last week actually) but BGT was exceptionally good and I've seen a hell of a lot of these talent show finals! I'd usually be able to pick on something but even the filler was great - nice to bring back two former acts and the bit with Walliams was perfect.
Really good line-up of finalists and well placed too - someone said it on BGMT and it really did build towards a crescendo at the end and the filler was actually well paced. The difference between this year and last year was huge - either of the top 2 would have been worthy winners whereas last year ended on a total "WTF" moment. The judges plainly get on really well and really did seem to be enjoying the whole thing.
They just need to work out what they're going to do with the semi-final thing. I've harped on since they first did it in 2010 but I don't think it can be ignored this year. And that's from the perspective of both BGT and Corrie!
BGMT deserves high ratings, hilarious show, proper entertainment.
Stephen does a good job, I think. When you consider the turnover on Xtra Factor, he has done well to hold onto that job for 6 years and with "the Cowell seal of approval" tonight I think he'll be back next year.
BGMT has really suffered the past few years in terms of viewers - I guess if 2 and a half hours is a lot to ask every weeknight then hoping for them to stick around for 3 and a half and watch BGMT until 11pm is a bit too much!
Must say its a massive massive shame that on the last day of the season, tonight's Match of the Day doesn't finish until midnight on a Sunday night. It could of been capable of 6m at least if scheduled right - although I don't think the contract allows it to start before 10, so I would of done this:

Either that or News at 9.05 and Mrs Brown at 9.30. The news and MBB would do much better than the Death in Paradise repeat. They should of used a bit of imagination.
Excellent for BGT - a million higher than I expected based on the semi final ratings and quite a bit better than people on here seemed to expect - the average was actually up slightly on last year's weighted average and the peak was slightly higher too, so considering the semifinals had lower ratings they should be happy.

Surely The Voice should've done better than that even with the early start? Its share of 29.4% is easily its lowest for a Saturday episode so far. If it had managed the 36% it had last week, it would've got a more respectable 6.9m, not to mention the 40+% shares it was getting just a few weeks ago.

I was on the thread for the live show and people didn't even know it was on so early, and I'm not sure Madagascar was the greatest lead-in. Still, can't make excuses. The ratings are simply poor. I was expecting them to hold steady at around 8 million. For whatever reason, it hasn't worked.

It's been losing viewers quite rapidly so I thought it would have fallen to c7m in its normal slot, with the early slot doing the rest of the damage. I went with 5.9m on the RPG so it was about where I thought it would be (not that it's where it should be). Its ratings have basically halved over 4 weeks.
Dire figures for the Voice... the BBC have made some serious errors over this... in both choosing to pay £20m with the format, and with the production and timing of shows.

I think the opposite. Now BGT is done I think there will be even less Voice hype and it will suffer because of it.
