Living in the north-west, there is currently a hose pipe ban. Yet I went to B&Q in Rochdale yesterday and they had a sprinker on and a women was using a hosepipe to water all the outdoor plants. Are places like B&Q and garden centre exempt??

for now its just householders who the ban applies to. Business such as garden outlets and carwashes are exempt - but if the drought continues they'll be put under the ban too.

confusingly, on another thread they are saying we can use a hosepipe so long as it doesn't have a sprinkler on:confused:

i hardly ever use my hosepipe so the ban doesn't really effect me.

Our hosepipe ban came into effect on friday and its been pissing down ever since. Ironic that back in november we had over 12 inches of rain in 24 hours and before they've even started thinking about replacing the lost road bridges (unless you're lucky enough to live in Workington) we're running out of water already.
