Dont Bio realise most people haven't got HD?

That's IT! You've got it! You've answered my question as to why it's only on HD.

They know most people don't have HD but, most importantly, who else doesn't have HD?! Of course! The Chawns themselves! There is a grave danger that they may be able to get hold of someone willing to tape stuff from sky, but there's very little chance they'll know anyone with HD to record it for them.

This may only be series 1 but looks like they're taking no chances. But they need "something" to fill their HD schedules with

    From the article:

"But there is one part of her look she says will remain the same - her dress, made from half a wedding gown and a Lycra top by sister Sam and ex-lorry driver dad Philip."

    WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

This bit made me feel sorry for her:cry:

"My singing teacher thought the judges were wrong about me - and all my friends have told me I can do it." She reckons she has already proved her critics wrong by receiving several bookings since her last TV appearance - including a star turn at the Christmas lights switch-on in Bury. And with new-found fans stopping her for autographs in the street, in sympathy with her on-screen savaging, she's become something of a local celebrity. "People come up to me all the time for my autograph or wanting to take my picture," she said.

She was only 17 wasn't she, when she first auditioned? Her parents really should have encouraged her to seek fulfilment in a different way, perhaps looking at some kind of vocational work, rather than trying to become part of the superficial world of celebrity.

All what friends? They don't appear to have any - certainly none willing to appear on TV anyway. I watched all 3 series and don't remember a single episode where either Sam or Emma were off socialising, going to cinema or just hanging around the park drinking Zambuca... And I am pretty sure neither Aud or Phil are friends with any other adults for dinner parties or just popping to the local for a drink and a chat...

I just found a new photo of the Chawners, is it really them, or are they Chawner impersonators? Third photo in the slide show.
Emma has brown hair, Sam looks short, Aud is smiling - and Phil isn't wearing a purple shirt.

    Imposters!!
Of course it's them. :) Emma's teeth are very distinctive! And Aud's boobs are still in desperate need of a decent bra.

Though why they're smiling and not looking as miserable as sin as the world's against them I have no idea.

  You're right. Maybe Phiz has actually complained and they are doubled up with laughter and decided this would be their last two fingers to them. Series 3 was definitely pay back time.

I bet Aud gets chronic backache - well, she would if she was up and about like most people. As she spends 99% of her day semi-recumbent in her chair, watching TV, I doubt it bothers her that her humongous bazookas are unfettered.

At least it's on HD and not 3D - can you imagine the Chawners in 3D? I think the hot tub scene would be reminiscent of Titanic in 3D, where the way it was filmed, the audience felt like they were in the water along with Rose and Jack at the end.

I wouldn't want to share a hot tub with Phil and the girls, even if it was only an illusion. I would still be traumatised and need therapy.

The hot tub scene could even be shown in 4D - the audience would get soaked by the spillage when they got in!

I came here to get some info on the May Chawnerthon, and now I can't watch it?? I only saw the last series:(

The saddest part (reeeally sad) is that I partly renewed my Sky contract so I could watch the other series'. I feel robbed!

It's what Phil was sporting in his black briefs that concerns me, more than water spillage:eek:

    VOM!

Little Phil gripping onto a piece of driftwood, slowly losing his fight for life as he slips below the icy bubbles.

    Boak....

Here's a question. Why do TV fat people exercise and swim in their normal day clothes?. I don't. I've got a massive swimsuit to go doggy paddling with my float and armbands.

Phil does it, Ruby does it. She went to a water park in a big hippy dress complete with a lacy white cardigan.

Phil does it, I'm guessing, because he doesn't have a swimsuit.Swimming is exercise. He doesn't do exercise. And I don't think Great Harwood is a beach town:rolleyes:

I'd say that it's pretty hard trying to get fitness clothing in bigger sizes unless you shop online. I really struggled in the shops to get a swimsuit, hillwalking clothing and gym clothing and I'm only a size 18 :( (I say 'only' :D As long as I'm not Chawneresque, I'm happy!)

You'd think the telly folk would find the clothing for them! (or is it a waste of money in the chawners case :D)

Perhaps they can't get swimwear to fit? Or they are under the illusion that clothing prevents people seeing how fat they actually are?

There are plenty of plus-size cossies available though, euphemistically called 'swimdresses' because they have a skirt attached that supposedly conceals chubby thighs.

I think the best thing is an ordinary cossie and a sarong that is whipped off just before getting into the water. Plus enough self-confidence not to give a toss about what others think. Swimming is fantastically good exercise and doesn't cause any joint strain, unlike most other forms of exercise.

Aud went swimming in BFC1 and really enjoyed herself, she should have kept it up, it may have made a difference to her health.

Not sure about Ireland, but here I think you can get a free (or £49) HD box, but you have to pay £10 per month extra. If you haven't got an HD tv though, you will be paying for nothing.

Ask yourself - are the Chawns really, really worth it :D:D:D
I have a sky HD box and a HD telly, I have the sky entertainment extra package but didnt get the HD package thingy I think it's an extra 15 euro a month.

Are the Chawners worth an extra15 euros a month? You'll be able to see every line on their faces, the detail is quite amazing. It would be worth it if you watch the nature and wildlife programmes, but I suppose the Chawners is a wildlife show. They do get very angry with each other.

Not to mention every crusty strand of nose hair, every fleck of dandruff, the sheen of sausage grease on their lips and the sweat stains on their clothes.

Chawners in HD? Ew, no thanks.

Nikkiclody, save the 15 euros and buy yourself something nice in a few months, it's what they tell people to do when they stop smoking. Dealing with Chaweraddicition should be no different.:D

I have an HD subscription. We watch movies and stuff on Sky so Mr D pays to watch it in high definition. I have seen the Chawners on Bio HD and it's as bad as it would be in normal vision just a little sharper. Actually I don't know whether it's transmitted in HD as a lot of programmes aren't - they might be on an HD channel but are just standard definition. Anyway if anyone wants to bring some trifle and sausages pop round and watch with me!!

Phew, I've just caught up after a week away (I really must catch up on some work soon :) )

Congratulations Lozenger! Welcome back Tally, Sorry to see you go Alfie.

So, Phil discovered DS - well, if he'd started googling himself he would have found this thread eventually - he seems to forget that he used to have part one linked on his Facebook profile, so he knew it existed and knew it wasn't an appreciation thread. Why the sudden outrage a year on?

I'd avoid the Chawners in HD, I don't get Bio HD so I won't be having a big fat catch up. I'm not sure I've even got a bio hd channel on Virgin. I'm not sure I could stomach the nasal hair - now I find it shocking that I never noticed it before it was pointed out to me!

Reported in the Daily Mail today

No treatment for smokers or the obese: Doctors back measures to deny procedures for those with unhealthier lifestyles
    ‎30 ‎April ‎2012, ‏‎07:37:56
Around 54 per cent of doctors who took part in an optional survey said the NHS should have the right to deny non-emergency treatments to those who fail to lose weight or kick their smoking habits.

Is this the end for the Chawners free ride on the NHS???

That's terrible though, where do we draw the line? Sportsmen who get injured, perhaps they shouldn't play.
Car drivers, perhaps they shouldn't drive.
    Drinkers who have accidents.
I don't like this, everybody pays ( well most people) so they should be entitled to free health care. If you're going to start categorising, then others like the Chawners who don't contribute shouldn't receive any healthcare. The NHS should be free to everyone, no one should be refused treatment whatever their lifestyle!

Rant over, but that made me mad......

I agree Greengran - but when you have some folks (like our Chubby pals) who make no effort whatsover to try to live a healthy life - despite loads of help - it does make you wonder

It's such a hot topic deciding on where the line should be drawn. Yes, noone should be denied treatment, as it defeats the point of the NHS, but so many people take complete advantage and will never change. That's what makes me so ratty about the Chawners. There is no appreciation of what care they have received. How would they cope in America?? My mother was (well, is) the same. She's had quite a few operations on her throat to remove polyps etc and then next day, she's straight back to smoking her full amount of ciggies again.
