The last few are not thr perfect technical singers but their tones and the emotion their voices give off make them more appealing to me than technically good voices who are a bit cold/boring like Celine Dion etc
Can be current or from the past and also what song of their give you goosebumps.
For me for the sheer emotion is has to be Judy Garland singing "The Man that got away" from a "Star is Born". The sheer emotion is stunning and never fails to move me.
I am not that old, but so the film a few years ago and when I heard that song and the way Judy sings it. No current artist could ever compete with that!!
For me it's a toss up between Karen Carpenter & Alison Krauss.
Very different from each other, but equally breathtaking IMO.
I will not deny that Karen is awesome, I love the Christmas Portrait album, but to me, there is a reason why Alison has more Grammy awards than any other female in music history.

By best, you mean Favourite? .
Mine is Anita O'Day. Big influence on Amy Winehouse.
Yes, Anita O'Day, a consummate jazz singer, who would not suffer fools gladly.
She did a lot for the "millinery industry" with this performance at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival, of which she later said she remembered little, as she was high on drugs at the time.

Wurthering Heights is haunting.
Kate Bush has produced other great work too but the said song is special, that voice.
I must mention Kelis. She is gifted. Her voice is rich. Some singers just wrap you around their finger! Hooked
