Some poor bugger who lives near me had his house hit by lighting this afternoon which torched his entire roof. My facebook seems to be full of video clips and pictures of it.
Thankfully no one was hurt as the family were out at the time.
We're all wishing for thunder but some poor animals go to pieces. I have had four dogs and not one has turned a hair at thunder or bangs like fireworks. Is it some fear we give off?
North London had nothing. Dry and hot all day. Got two lots of washing dried and 4 year old splashed in pool all afternoon. Not a cloud in the sky some of the time. Middle cat celebrated by eating a sparrow on the patio.
I went to bed at 9 last night and worried I would miss it all. I take it nothing happened?
There was a patch crossing the French coast about 6pm yesterday looking as if it would cross over towards Brighton, but it fizzled out soon after.
A much more active cell passed further east. It crossed the coast near the French/Belgian border and then carried on up the North Sea just clipping East Anglia and then Yorkshire. As it was passing Thanet, well out beyond North Foreland, it appeared to be dumping huge amounts of rain into the sea.

Shame, I thought that big one at Belgium might just make it to Thanet.
I am now studying the lightening map, this is my favourite new thing.

Hehe, I've become shamelessly addicted too. Did you know you can request stuff to pick up the strikes? I'm sorely tempted to do it on the excuse that the little one will love it

It has calmed down here in the last half hour or so - thankfully.

There were further thunderstorms over the extreme East and parts of Yorkshire, but apart from that, a quiet night.
Don't be ridiculous

Now I just heard a rumble of thunder quite close and it didn't show on the map:(
same here, we had big downpour yesterday morning, nice today, was sunny, now dull, but still warm--no storm
Its within 10 miles. I reckon it might skip past us here, but quite close.
