Newbie HD channels question
Hi all,
We got SkyHD installed this morning and so far loving it in the main (the OH doesn't like the planner at the moment though - "too different from the Sky+ one" apparently).
I have one question (of what I am sure, over the weeks/months, will turn into many) about the channels ...
Looking at the guide, I noticed that the BBC HD lineup isn't the same as the BBC1 lineup. I was under the impression that all the HD channels were like this ie a simulcast of their SD equivalent but with some shows in HD.
Is this not the case ? Is there a list of which HD channels are of the "simulcast" variety ?
And - I'm sure this isn't possible but you never know - for those 'simulcast' channels is it possible for the SD channel to default to the HD version ? ie going to channel 106 actually shows Sky1 HD ?

No, it's not the case. The following channels are simulcasts of their parent channels -

193 - FX HD (although it only broadcasts during the evening)
214 - Sci-Fi HD

257 - Sky Arts 1 HD
259 - Sky Arts 2 HD
273 - Luxe TV HD
278 - Sky Real Lives HD
313 - Sky Movies Premiere HD
314 - Sky Movies Showcase*
332 - Sky Movies Comedy HD*
333 - Sky Movies Action & Adventure HD*
335 - Sky Movies Crime & Thriller HD*
334 - Sky Movies Family HD*
336 - Sky Movies Drama & Romance HD*
337 - Sky Movies Sci-Fi/Horror HD*
338 - Sky Movies Modern Greats HD*
339 - Sky Movies Indie HD*
408 - Sky Sports HD 1**
409 - Sky Sports HD 2**
412 - Eurosport HD**
418 - Sky Sports HD 3**

* - Channel names and line-up as from 26th March.
** - On rare occasions these channels will deviate from their parent channel's schedule, but for the most part simulcast.
The following channels follow their own schedule most of the time, although they will sometimes link up with their parent channel (where applicable) and simulcast a programme -

It's not possible I'm afraid.
