I think its the biggest joke on TV!! Complaining about being ripped off in car parks, because the machine doesn't give you change! It says NO CHANGE on the machine, so you're not getting ripped off!!! A complete non event!
These programmes were all on of a morning just before christmas, they are repeats.
Why on earth they need three female presenters too, I'll never know.
Some of the items that they highlight are good but some of them are just pathetic.
The program seems to be targeted towards older people, particularly those that more easily fall victim to scams.
That's the impression I got, and probably the reason the three presenters were chosen for this. Seems ridiculous to repeat the show just a few weeks after it was originally shown in the morning though.

I thought a lot ovf the "victims" were quite young actually. But that may be because i am old!! Being old does not mean you will fall for scams, in my case I can say I have never fallen for any.
I said in one of these threads that the programme was dire when it first aired over Christmas.I also could see no reason for THREE presenters when good old Dom Littlewood could do it on his own!! Perhaps they had to find a job for the 3 of them:D

But then I think asking the question of why council's have machines that don't offer change, or extend the parking for a time proportionate to the over-payment, is a perfectly reasonable one.

That's because the "oldies" watching it will have forgotten they saw it in the first place

Because knowing that some people will just pay the extra means they have more revenue. Personally I think that's a good thing as it goes back into the pot for council services.

Being older does not of course automatically mean that you will will fall for scams, but there is a greater chance of it - the reason why many of the older generation are particularly targeted, along with other more vunerable members of society.
I didn't see the episode last night, but a lot of the topics I can remember from before Christmas would affect these groups.
By having three relatively older and experienced presenters (although three does seem excessive), I imagine the thinking is that many people will relate to them - plus there's only so much of Dom Littlewood you can put up with!

The reason for that is that people from past generations were brought up to respect authority figures and be deferential to them. That made them easy prey to anyone sounding like an official or wearing a peaked cap.
Nowadays of course, everyone treats minor officials with the contempt and suspicion they so rightly deserve - and certainly have earned. That means we question "authority", talk back and say "no" and don't trust anyone. Of course, that's a generality and there are always trusting or gullible people of any age who can be taken - it's just that there are fewer of them among the young, than among the old who were brought up in a different, more trusting time and with values to match.
Ahh that makes sense - it is the (lack of) quality of daytime telly. As for three females, maybe someone panicked and thought they'd better get some *older* women on screen double quick!
You've hit the nail on the head!
"The BBC has pointed to its decision to move Rip-Off Britain - presented by Angela Rippon, Gloria Hunniford and Jennie Bond – to BBC1 ‘peak time’ from day time as evidence it is addressing concerns."
did anyone read the letter in the Radio Times from the former builder who said these types of programmes helped ruin his trade as the customers are inspired to come up with unreasonable demands and then threaten him with Trading Standards, Watchdog etc.
I agree with him

I completely agree, there is nothing stopping the council putting in machines that give you change. But to put this on a programme about rip off Britain, when its not really a rip off, is just a joke!! The programme seems to be aimed at non starters, not the real targets. How about campaigning against wheel clampers, who are the real rip offs or a million other things that they could have campaigned about instead!

But they all look really smug:o

If you can't read it could prove to be a rip off.

I'm sure this is another repeat.
