Corrie - Should they open a nightclub?

Should they add a nightclub to Coronation Street? Afterall, it should start reflecting reality and becoming a bit more modern (If they even know what that means). It might be a saving grace for the show, and compete with EE (R&R).

On Coronation Street itself? Do you have a Nightclub on your street? I Don't. It's bad enough having the bistro at the end of the street (apparently the only place in the entirety of Weatherfield that you can go for a meal). By the way, Mike Baldwin had a nightclub of sorts where the medical centre is now. It was called The Graffiti Club.

It doesn't seem like a nightclub type of street. Then again, it doesn't seem like a Bistro type of street and it has one of those.

I honestly don't think a nightclub would work in Corrie, it hasn't nearly enough young people and thats gonna just mean it would be full of the likes of Sally Webster, Stella Price, Fiz Stape, Sean Tully, Carla and Peter etc..

it would become an even bigger joke than the R&R is in EastEnders

if they were opening something new, a good choice would be a gym in my opinion :)

Yes, and they should call it Taboo!
Kylie could resurrect her cage dancing career and Ryan could be the resident dj.

There are plenty young ones to fill it too like Kylie, David, Chesney, Katy, Gary, Izzy, Tina, Tommy, Fiz, Kirk, Ty, Maria, Sinead, Eva, etc....

Sometimes I think I hv a nightclub next door! I don't think there is a need . There is the pub and bistro.

It would be difficult for a club to be more contrived than the place in EE along with nearly everything else in that woeful programme.

Terry Duckworth needs to come back and set his nightclub back up. I hated the hypocritical residents getting all high and mighty and stopping his business venture from going ahead.

Just to say - how is it unrealistic for EE to have a nightclub just outside of The Square? London is full of nightclubs!

And no, it already has too many businesses to be realistic on a Street. The corner shop and pub was enough, but then they've brought in a bistro, kebab shop, mechanics, a newsagents and a doctors surgery all on one small Street.

It's not unrealistic for EE to have a nightclub. It's just that the actual nightclub itself is unrealistic.
    - the miniature bar, the size of a coffee table
    - the cast dancing the night away whilst it's 5pm and it's broad daylight outside
    - the dance floor the size of a living room
    - the 4 extras who are supposed to make up a nightclub 'crowd'

And the club is a two minute walk from the tube, the high street in theory is not that far away. The club being there is totally believable.

Corrie isn't the kind of street to have a nightclub on it.

It wouldn't fit in in Corrie, it's more realistic that when the younger residents go to clubs they head into town.

If they do have a nightclub, it should be run by Norris and called My Knob Could Do with a Wipe.

    or a factory
    or a restaurant
    or pub

Its the kind of thing I can see Blackburn introducing to keep up with his urban theme.

The club itself is unrealistic though. Most of their club nights are when it's still broad daylight outside. :D

Some night clubs IRL are tiny though.

    No
But thinking about it, can you imagine Rita, Norris, Dennis and Emily dancing on the dance floor?

Exactly - I'm in London and could point out a number of small clubs I go to - especially around Covent Garden! One of my favourites is a small underground club in Soho that's literally the size of a large living room.
