I can't articulate how irritating Sam's voice is because there are no words strong enough. Maybe it's because I dislike him so intensely so I'm being rather biased.

Forget the voice, at least he is saying things how he and the public sees it. Pity there aren't more Sams in there.
He has got quite an annoying, whiny voice that rather grates.
As for him being a "good guy," I think he just gets off on winding people up, period. People seem to be regarding him as a bit of a hero because he's winding up Josie, but he's just using prior knowledge of the show to know exactly who to wind up to make himself popular.
He's gone on a mission in there to wind people up to be entertaining, but unfortunately he's also very annoying to watch.

His voice reminds me of Chantelle too. They both have some very curious and identical vowel sounds which I've never heard before, so I wonder if they were born and raised within a few streets of each other. Professor Higgins would know.

How do you work that out? Are YOU the entire public population? I think you'll find that opinion is entirely divided on Sam and there are just as many people like me who can't stand the sight or sound of him.
I find it really annoying too. I also find his stupid dopey smiley facial expression that he has all the time annoying, and just his personality in general.
I don't mind his voice, I'm too busy listening to what he says, and most of the time I'm applauding what I do hear and laughing at the other HMs stumped reaction.

Yes, but he's just using prior knowledge of public opinion to boost his own popularity. It's crafty, but it's not heroic.
