Dogs are special. I worship the ground my dog walks on. My OH texted me today & said that the arsonist should be burnt at the stake.

    They are so so special.

I often wonder who people would save in a fire. A dog or a baby.

    Quit stirring.

Anyone decent would try to save both.

I think if it was people that died in a block of flats due to arson then there would be a lot of outrage just the same, I'm with you that there wouldn't be donations for getting their flats rebuilt for the survivors but I'm sure there would be campaigns to have people donate clothes and stuff. These dogs that have survived are now virtually homeless and don't have local councils to help rehouse them and look after them so they need all the help they can get.

and probably most of them are in the home in the first place because they have been mistreated by humans.:(

    How about you stoats?
Do you think I should do a DS poll?

Indeed they would. You are quite correct.

    My order would always be
    1. Baby
    2 Dog
    3. Pair of shoes,

Because human life (in general) is far more important to society and the world than that of a dog.

    That is correct.

Definitely a baby. As with this dogs home, or any other, theres plenty of spare dogs around.

I think whatever you should do you should probably do it somewhere that isn't this thread.

Aside from which it's a dumb question, as I'm pretty sure 99% of us wouldn't have the balls to save anyone.

When I see people talking about animals as if they were human. When they refer to dogs as members of their family, or when they congratulate their child for risking their life to save a dog.

I think if you take it to an extreme you will get some people who would choose a dog over a baby. I wonder if there is anyone on DS like this.

If there is anyone like that, then they probably don't have the courage to admit they would save a dog over a baby. at least they know its wrong.

Easy, I would save the dog because you can always make a new baby. Dogs cost money.

We need far harsher punishments for people who indulge in animal abuse and cruelty. As with other punishments, they are there to act as deterrents.

    Totally agree with the above.

In this case though, the act of arson would receive a far harsher punishment in law, than the killing of the dogs.

I think your logic is flawed. However as a troll I give it four out of ten.

And another emotive thread on a sensitive subject turns into the KL "pair of shoes" pop quiz...

I am one of those people who refer to their pets as family.

I imagine if it were a direct choice infront of their own eyes, almost all will choose the baby to survive. You'd be a bit odd not too.

The baby if it was my own

The dog if it was my own and the baby wasn't

The baby if neither was mine.

You would seriously leave a human baby, somebody's child, to burn to save your dog? A baby that could have over 80 years of life in front of him/her? and your dog a handful at most?

If any person took such actions as outlined above, I hope they would be ostracised from society for the rest of their days. Incomprehensibly selfish.

I can't take either of your posts seriously until you both address the other one above.

    Then I'll debate.
