Another theory is the majority of the finalists are far more comfortable singing ballads than uptempo numbers which means the loss of Lorna and Shelley - who seemed comfortable with uptempo songs - will be more acutely felt as the series goes on; especially if we lose Kingsland Road as well.
I notice Shelley for example had no problem throwing herself into a big choreographed number last week and joining in with the dancers, so my theory about the others may be correct.
There's nothing wrong with being a ballad specialist but it may be that these acts have no sense of rhythm and this is why they're not even attempting uptempo songs (the show's solution with acts like this is usually to have the singer moving around minimally and the dancers doing all the work)
I used to love that song, back when Dreamgirls was release. X Factor contestants have sung the song to death though. I feel like we hear it every week during auditions and a few times during bootcamp and now on the live shows.
The show would be SO much better without themes, the themes are so dull.
Why can't Sam Bailey do something interesting and rework Kill and Run by Sia or Radioactive by Imagine Dragons in that cabaret style of hers? Instead of doing this car crash performance - nobody ever did and ever will outdo Celine's version.
I have already stated it is the Gabrielle one. It was used in a 1999 film called 'Magnolia' so they can use it this week too Also Jeanette and Rielle sang a lil bit of it on last Saturdays Xtra Factor.

I wonder if the show are giving her these songs to sabotage her? It's very possible she polled extremely well in weeks 1 and 2.....perhaps too well for the producers' liking.

Hardly, though DS members complain of it (very rightly so), the British public will love it, especially the voters. She will only come 1st after this performance. It's annoying but true sadly.
Btw I love Luke's song choice. I think this will suit his range much better! And I also like Abi and Hannah's songs as well which could really be game changing performances.
I have a sneaky feeling Rough Copy isn't the producers alpha group and neither is Kingsland Road. I think it's changed now back to Miss Dynamix...with RC being the alpha in Week 1 and Week 2. I just have this feeling from that VT they showed us in Week 2 and making a big issue that Cece's pregnant that they're trying to get Miss Dynamix to get through this week.
sofabet/betsfactor (who rely on knowledge about song choice etc. to make bets) seem to think that Sam Callahan will be singing the Juno version of All I Want Is You rather than the U2 version. If that is the case they will have to change it for him but at least it means there might be an uptempo number in the mix.
very interesting choice of song if they're right. Unusual choice, but could actually be very good for him vocally...

I don't think they'll treat Miss Dynamix as the alpha group - the last thing the show needs is a problem with the baby on top of everything else. They'll be reminding everyone tomorrow that Sese is pregnant and will probably put some double-edged comments into the critique such as 'I can't believe how much energy you put into that' etc. to make the public nervous.
It depends whether the producers want to make the targeting too obvious - they may be given a chance this week but I'll be amazed if they're still in the competition two weeks from now.
I am backing Nicholas as he is Scottish, but I will not be able to listen to his performance as the last time I heard that song was at my grans funeral and she was buried in October 2009, so its too personal. So I will either listen to it crying my eyes out or not watch it at all.
Dreams is deffo the Gabrielle song. Caroline asked them on last saturdays xtra factor if Jeanette and Rielle could give us a lil sample and the sang a lil bit of the chorus
Thanks for that. I was seeing lots of mentions of it being the Gabrielle song (Magnolia is a wonderful film!) but nothing directly from the X Factor to confirm it.
I immediately thought of the Cranberries' song, as that one has been used in so many more movies. Bit disappointed it isn't. Ah well.
I always love movies week, as I love a good movie song. Lots of great songs to look forward to tomorrow. Had to google Nicholas' song though!
theres nothing wrong with sam doing big powerhouse numbers to suit her voice, but it doesn't have to be from one of the most well known songs from a film that was out 0ver 10 years ago and has been DONE TO DEATH.
the judges keep saying ' we're here to find the next relevant, cool, new pop star' but how is sam bailey going to have any kind of career if she keeps churning out this shite? she would be lucky to have one album that a few grannies would buy then slip into panto oblivion. and she deserves more than that.
Sharon is trying to play it safe by picking a song sam could sing in her sleep, but I feel it could backfire massively.
the rest of them- jesus wept, is this really the best they can come out with after all these years? why do we have to hear the same songs every fecking year?
I heard james Arthur on radio one this week doing an excellent live lounge - a really solid version of his new song and an artic monkeys cover. he did brilliantly and he is classic example if exactly what the x factor should be - a really talented, current, exciting singer.
the exact opposite of this years line up.
lol Sam could sing this song in her sleep? HAHAA look I agree this choice is about as boring as it could possibly get. But make no mistake it is NOT an easy one to cover and I actually think Sam could be in HUGE trouble here. Infact I do not think she will do it justice. Big trouble. Her worst performance yet. Those notes at the end are going to be hard to emulate. Silly choice for so many reasons.
Rough Copy have said that Gary doesn't pick the songs for them, they do. And Gary has confirmed this before in various interviews. He does not believe into forcing someone to sing something they're not comfortable with, so he lets his acts have a big word in the song choices. http://www.voice-online.co.uk/article/rough-copy-were-not-too-confident-were-prepared
So that answers one question
Before rushing back to rehearsals, there was just one more burning question: what is with the skirts?
With a laugh, Sterling said: "Yeah – that’s actually me, not the X Factor stylist. I don’t call it a skirt, I call it an overlay. It’s just an additional layer of clothing. It’s nothing new – men have been doing it for centuries; the Scots had the kilt and the Romans wore something similar.

Thanks. I wonder how that will effect the betting.
Oh good. The Juno one would have been...
So that answers one question

And "Listen" from "Dreamgirls", yet again:yawn::yawn:
The producers could have featured "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going" just for a change from that (and "One Night Only")
why didn't they do her roots!
it is a new trend started by ciara
http://timesatlanta.com/gossip/ciara-gets-it-right/
I hope they do it justice but I won't hold my breath...
off course they won't, none of the contestants seem 2 be doing a good job according to DS
