On the technology side Twitter has become more popular than Facebook.
YouTube is still going strong with the rise of the blogger, many of whom are teen/geek icons earning a living from this full time.
Smartphones and tablets are more popular than the traditional laptop and desktop PC for recreational use.
Netflix and Spotify are changing the way we (legally) view content, with streaming being included in the music charts this year.
Love them or hate them the self service supermarket checkout is prominent in our supermarkets, especially the small convenience chains such as Sainsbury's Local and Tecsos express which has exploded in numbers this decade.
I really, really, REALLY hope it doesn't have that kind of staying power. I've had full blown arguments over dinner with friends who think it's better than the 90's golden age of The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Beauty & The Beast etc..
Technology. Political correctness. The consumer becomes so accustomed to consumer culture that thet themselves become a product (YouTube is basically an internet consumerist whorehouse where people shove content in your face on an hourly basis in exchange for likes - which bumps up advertising earnings).

Technology applications becoming more advanced (Virtual Reality, Prototype driverless cars, talking watches and mobile phones).

The Internet has become an all-more powerful force, by legitimising 'internet tv'.
And, just scrapping in, the Orangutan that was granted human rights. That will have further implications going forward.
A government more right wing than Thatcher.
Dubstep goes mainstream.
The decline of human to human interaction due to the rise of human to screen to screen to human contact.
