Will it be the show nobody cares to watch next year? First episode may get good figures given people will want to see what they do with it..Could be one of the few shows on the BBC viewers will be calling for it to be axed before it's even on air..

Just curious to see if people will or won't watch the programme in 2016? :)

Or it might get millions of viewers who want to watch a show that is actually about the cars for a change.

The 2016 series will be fine just totally different - hopefully entertaining, but more hopefully highlights will include

    no racist humour
    no bullying
no right wing rants about everything from 'pub bore' middle aged millionaires
no faked inserts - how 'they' customised their vehicles

Viewing figures will no doubt drop to 2-3 million on par with other BBC Two shows, but with the right presenters it will be worth watching.

It will be rubbish, it was last one series, maybe two, and then be thrown into the fire, the ashes will pop up once a year at christmas.

Seeing as another broadcaster tried that format and it failed to attract "millions", the omens would not appear to be that good.

Then Clarkson will be back to save the series.

A number of top gear threads and Clarkson threads discussing exactly the same thing already. However let's have another thread.

The 2016 show will feature Claudia Winklemen as host, with Bruce Forsyth as co-presenter doing features on Nissan Micras and other cars driven by old fogies. The other co-presenter will be Kim Kardashian, who will specialise on cars that people with extremely big backsides can fit into.

Or even worse - Clare Balding !

The show needs to take some time off & let everything quieten down for a while.
As for A new show, I think whoever takes it on will be compared to Hammond, may & Clarkson.
They have created a legacy that will be hard to match or beat. In time the show could re-invent itself, but that could take at least 4 series.

It'll be Interesting to see how the BBC approach this.

Yeah so basically take out EVERYTHING that made Top Gear the show is was and ruin it.

What next? Re-do Downton Abby without the clothes and make-up and set it in a council flat in Hounslow?

They will throw money and everything at it just so they can say "See we were right" and puff out their little chests. Just like what they did with The Voice to stop them looking silly for spending way too much on it.

Basically demanding "You will like it!"

You mean like Fifth Gear? I think Danny Cohen should present it - that will work. :D

i think they should have re-launched in the UK in 2017, giving time for this to blow over and for anticipation to build re: new presenters and (to whatever extent) new format. whether we like what's happened or not, the only thing the bbc can do now is treat this as an opportunity and hopefully bring us a 'new' TG that won't be a complete disaster.

let's face it, as much as many of us enjoyed JC and the others on TG, we also posted now and again re: tired format etc, so as i say surely now's as good a time as any to make those changes.

I'm sure you are not a right wing racist middle-aged bully, but if you can tell me why you believe they are acceptable traits, feel free.......

I have been watching Top Gear for over 30 years, I watched Clarkson go from car enthusiast to a whining bore - no wonder even his wife walked out eventually - his on-screen personality changed beyond parody. Now his tv career is halted, he will have a lot more time for his newspaper columns.....

Try 'The Classic Car Show' on Thursday 2nd April, 7pm - Channel 5.

Jodie Kidd and Quentin Wilson. I think Jodie Kidd did one of the fastest laps on TG, and Quentin Wilson is brilliant.

You do know everything on the show was scripted? The arguing, the moaning. Many people that know him have said he's nothing like he is on TV. Also people who were in top gear studio who met him said he was really nice sadly the same couldn't be said of Hammond who apparently is a bit of an arse, May is ok though.

Well TG was doing okay pre-Clarkson. It's the BBC. It doesn't need "millions" of viewers. You know this already :)

What a load of nonsense. But typical for this thread it seems.
