With Halloween coming up tomorrow, I was wondering what people
have as there favourite scary tale?
Some of mine:
The Masque of the Red Death - Edgar Allan Poe
Schalken the Painter - Sheridan Le Fanu
Casting the Runes - M. R. James
Rooum - Oliver Onions
Amore Dure - Vernon Lee
Jikininki - Lafcadio Hearn
Eveline's Visitant - Mary Elizabeth Braddon
The White People - Arthur Machen
The Festival - H. P. Lovecraft
One Who Saw -A. M. Burrage

I also really enjoyed The Woman In Black by Susan Hill - but I read this one after seeing the movie, Enjoyed it a lot more than the movie, though!
I've read a few short scary stories that were really good, I just have a terrible memory and can't recall the names or authors.
The WiB film was marvellous, but I've never read the book.
I've sorta fallen out of the loop with regard to recent horror fiction, though-the
most recent horror story I liked was "Details" by China Mieville, and that's
12 years old!
