And Home and away. Was very OTT when I watched it.
They found a girl on the beach who was raised by people who spoke a completely made up language. And she could speak english in a few weeks time.
I recall reading that Harry Hill was to star in a soap opera parody which, like the American one, was also simply named Soap. Did that ever materialise?
Has this been inspired by Eastenders under Bryan Kirkwood?
A cgi fire.
A character (a serial killer preacher no less) faking his own wifes death. Only for it to turn out she was locked next door all along. And none of the residents bat an eyelid.
Characters changing in to other people.
A cgi train.
Victoria Wood did an amazing parody in the 80s with Acorn Antiques. All the episodes are collected on one dvd. The making of acorn antiques is IMO the funneist piece of tv ever."Whats this??", "Its a haemorhoid preparation , to be brutally frank! Cut?!":p
I like the mini soaps on E4 ... real piss-takes of American soaps.
"I'm gonna ask Faye to marry me"
"Where?"
"I don't know! Facebook?!?! Or Twitter?!?!?!?!"
Complete with dramatic head swishes
By the way, wasn't there a storyline in Days of Our Lives where there was a serial killer, but it was eventually revealed that nobody was killed, and all the victims were being held on an Island that was a carbon copy of the original town

My all-time favourite american parody was 'Soap'. I don't know how they played it so straight, while the audience were in stitches!
I want to watch Sunset Beach again! I miss it.

Sunset Beach was brilliantly trashy though
Corrie's Kate Ford is doing a one-woman OTT-parody at the moment
Totally agree with this statement! I miss Father Fit and Dimples :D:o
Echo Beach and Moving Wallpaper anyone???
I think that was the one Harry Hill was involved in too.

We're already past the point of parody my friend.

They knew they were churning out something that was incredibly nuts, yet managed to keep straight faces all the way through.
The disasters were fantastic, with the earthquake that lasted about 3 weeks and the Posideon Adventure that lasted even longer.
I'll never forget Annie, or the amount of times Lesley Anne Down could say 'Trey, trey' in one episode.
