Even at 38 I've been told I should "grow up and stop playing with toys" on more than one occasion. But recent studies have shown that the average age of a gamer is 35 years old. That means that for every kid or teenager playing games there people in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond indulging in this glorious pastime.
I am 47 and only been gaming for about a year, after not bothering for about 20years, and am really enjoying it, i bought my 360 a year ago, then last christmas bought my ps3, and now i have a ps4.
What does too old mean?.
Too old is the kind of comment us older gamers get from kids/teens that are new to gaming....You shouldn't even be gaming gramps is what I get sometimes .
I'm 61, been gaming ever since the first "pong". PS3 these days. Gaming and the internet save me from terminal boredom, as I'm retired and semi-housebound. TV is rubbish these days, so I thank whoever for gaming and the internet in general.
I'm 39 and my younger brother gave me his old PS3 when he got a X-Box a couple of years back.
I didn't think much of the ageist comments I heard online and was put off at first (if only parents knew what the little darlings shout out about on online games) but once I got thick skinned I kept coming back online for gaming.
The media play to the young and I'm fed up with it to be honest, all ages should play on games.
The forty/fifty year olds that play now are the kids of yesterday that were there at the start and have grown up with the Atari, Spectrum, Commodore and such like.
I agree. They deserve what their generation helped bring to the mainstream and push to the limits in terms productivity.
I know i'll be saying the same in 50 years, when I can play games in my head!

I intend to keep going for many years to come.
Do it!
