Although that in itself in not necessarily a reason to like or dislike them, imo.
It depends what you want from a film. The sequels are decent by 1980s, chest-beating, hero-kicking-everybody's-ass film standards but the original films are good films by proper film standards.
The problem is that the popular images of Rambo (one-man-army beating entire countries with nothing but his muscles and a huge gun) and Rocky (the only boxer in the world capable of standing up to and beating unbeatable monsters) bear no relation to the characters in the original films and as a result those films tend to be unfairly lumped into the 80s meathead movie category.
I love ace ventura 1 and have watched it so many times over the last few years but recently i bought the 2nd film.
Although i saw it years ago i didn't realise how childish and stupid it is compared to the first film, i watched about 20 minutes and turned it off

Gremlins

Conan The Barbarian

Good call on First Blood as well. There are eight Rocky and Rambo sequels in total and all of them completely miss the point of the originals.

There's a sequel to The Outlaw Josey Wales?
Jurassic Park
Bad Boys
American Graffiti
Psycho
The Last Seduction
There is, it's called "The Return of Josey Welles". Clint didn't have anything to do with it though.

Yes, 'The Return of Josey Wales'. I have it on DVD. It's a poor effort. It also has the worst picture quality I've ever seen on a colour film on DVD.
Thanks for that, guys. Not one I'd ever wanna watch by the sound of it.
Another one - Planet of the Apes.
Aliens
Terminator 2
The Mummy Returns
Although i saw it years ago i didn't realise how childish and stupid it is compared to the first film, i watched about 20 minutes and turned it off
X Men
Underworld
A multitude of Disney movies.
the crow
Once were warriors.
I'll go with those and add:
Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey (I think it's smarter/funnier than orig).
Godfather 2 (I find the original a bit dull and much prefer this).
Matrix Reloaded (I know: heresy, and the Zion rave scenes stink - but I think this is more stupid spectacular fun than original).
Empire Strikes Back
The Dark Knight
Can't believe that people can think Aliens & Terminator 2 are better than the original films.
