Just to make sure, you do know that the things they say are not part of Islam? For example the things about shaking hands with the left hand is an abomination and the worst insult. It is never allowed in Islam, yet this Anjem character goes round telling his followers that is what they should do. Also his views on wanting Islamic Shariah law in the UK are completely preposterous.

I think it is the Muslim communities in London who should be talking with these people and telling them that the stuff they have been brainwashed with is complete nonsense. I don't know if you read my mega post on the previous page, but those are some of the things that can be said to them.

Their so called dawah is just lazy handing out leaflets, which as you will know on any afternoon there are many people who hand out leaflets. How many people actually take them? Then, how many read them? Then how many act positively upon the information in the leaflet? Besides what they teach is contrary to the teachings of Islam.

    Naddie,

This is exactly why I got so irked and angry by the drivel written by Tewingirl. She took her own anti-US foreign policy agenda and somehow twisted it with the pro terrorist agenda of these very mixed up men, who confuse Islam with their own deeply disturbed world vision - and somehow construed it as being a valid representation of Islam and Muslims not only in the UK but the world over.

She then strangely went on to accuse anyone who found these men disturbing as being racist, Islamaphobes and synonymous with that amorphous beast she calls "the West" and which she sees being the root of all world evil.

She seems to have an inability to realise that Muslims are both Muslim and British citizens, that a Jew can be Jewish and a non Zionist and UK citizen - the strange cult of PC militancy which she is a proponent of is in itself deeply racist as she can't comprehend what Islam actually means to the millions of Muslims who are horrified by the likes of Anjem and the deeply disturbed "converts" who have no concept of Islam as a way of life, but use it to justify the dark, twisted anger within themselves.

I see Tewingirl has chosen not to respond to your heartfelt and intelligent posts about what Islam means to you and to the vast majority of Muslims. It's a pity, maybe if she read what you have to say and couldn't fall back on accusations of Islamaphobia and racism and actually acknowledged your life experience and passionate testimony to the life affirming nature of Islam she might have to cut the crap.

Sorry for being so late in replying, I have been extremely busy all week and have not had a chance to go online and check out the forums. Thing is Tewingirl is partly right on some accounts. The British did take part in some atrocities in the past, the slave triangle, much of Bristol was built on slave labour from that time. Also, the Spanish had their Conquistadors who wiped out the entire Aztech race because of the Spanish's hunger for gold. The Dutch and the Portuguese went out to the Spice Islands in what is now called Indonesia and treated the natives badly. The plight of the Aborigines in Australia is well known as well as the plight of the native Americans who were almost wiped out. The list goes on and on.

Now if you look at the history of the Muslim world, they did not go round stealing resources or wiping out whole communities. There are Coptic Christians living in Egypt as they did for almost 2000 years. The original languages of different places were not wiped out either, nor did many of the different cultures. When the Muslim Arab traders went to Indonesia to trade spices, they did not go round exploiting them, they carried out trade with the locals. Even King Offa wanted to trade with the Muslims, as is evident with the coins shown here at the British Museum website.

Nowadays, with the current climate, the newspapers and right wing thugs are falling over themselves to denigrate Muslims and anyone who is not white British. These right wing thugs used "extremist Islam" as a cover, but have been caught out when they have attacked Hindus because they "look Muslim". These groups do have some support from Anjem Chaudary because he has been giving them the fuel for them to carry out their extremist right wing chants. The "newspapers" run under the control of Richard Desmond like the Star have been giving those right wing extremists support by trying to justify what they do. Other "newspapers" have been spreading lies and have been blaming Muslims in those lies. A well known example is the case of the extractor fan and the bacon smell. http://tabloid-watch.blogspot.com/2010/10/mail-blames-muslims-over-planning.html

Sure, Americans have put dictators in power in the Middle East, for example Saddam Hussein and Assad of Syria. I think the worst are the right wing press and politicians that have been infiltrating the European and British way of life by spreading lies about Muslims. There is a hatred of Muslims in this century, just like the hatred the Jews and Gypsies had to endure in Germany in the last century. People like Anjem Chaudary are doing all they can to fuel this hatred, and those who oppose him are called apologetics (or something like that). Unfortunately whenever there is a discussion about Muslims on the telly, there are very few chances for proper Muslims to actually explain what Islam is about.

So, my conclusion is not to allow these nutters any time on the telly, and to just let proper Muslims who have a decent command of the English language and Islam to appear on the telly to answer questions on Islam and to give what the normal Muslims think about different things in the British society. Also, if you want a programme that investigates things done by Muslims, have it done in an impartial way, and let the Muslim voice be heard. We do not all out want to go out there to kill everyone. Sure, American governments have been putting dictators in charge of Muslim countries, but that is not the fault of the general American people. Besides, many of the people of voting age were not born when Saddam came into power. We have seen how many governments who have been elected have promised one thing and did another thing.

Muslim convert from BBC documentary pleads guilty to terrorism charges

A Muslim convert who featured in a BBC3 documentary in 2011 has pleaded guilty to terrorism charges at the Old Bailey.

Richard Dart, 29, admitted plotting a terror attack in Royal Wootton Bassett and planning to target members of the security services including "M15 or M16 heads" after receiving training at terrorism camps in Pakistan.

Two other men, Imran Mahmood and former police community support officer Jahangir Alom, also pleaded guilty to preparing for terrorism or assisting another in terrorism, between July 2010 and July 2012.

As well as receiving terror training over two years, the gang gave information to other radicals about travelling to Pakistan.

Dart, who converted to Islam after being radicalised by British Islamist Anjem Choudary, was arrested after police seized computers from his home in Ealing, west London, after a long surveillance operation.

Evidence showed the men discussed targeting Royal Wootton Bassett, the Wiltshire town where mourners paid their respects to British troops killed in Afghanistan from 2007 until September 2011.

Dart, who has changed his name to Salahuddin al Britani, featured in a BBC documentary filmed by his step-brother about his conversion.

In the film, Dart, the son of Dorset teachers, was said to have developed extremist views in the months after joining the Muslims Against Crusades group.

At an earlier hearing in the magistrates court, Mark Topping, prosecuting, said the trio travelled to Pakistan "for the purpose of being instructed in terrorism techniques and thereafter to deploy these techniques, either in Pakistan or elsewhere".

Upon Mahmood's return police found traces of explosives in his rucksack.

Topping said: "The samples taken by officers produced varying traces of nitroglycerin, traces of RDX explosive and in another place was found PETN, a highly explosive component."

He said the trio would communicate as if they were "deaf and dumb" and type messages to each other on mobile phones or computers for the others to read while standing next to them, then delete them so their conversations would remain secret.

However police were able to recover fragments of discussions on Dart's computer as the evidence mounted against them.

Mentioned in the messages was the TTB, which is the Taliban, Taj Gul Amir, one of the Pakistan Taliban leaders, and Hakim Ullah Masood, who was the head of the Pakistan Taliban until he was killed in a drone attack.

Topping added: "There is a discussion about Wootton Bassett and locations: 'Yes, yes, Wootton Bassett, if not that then all combatants. If it comes down to this, it is that or even to just deal with a few MI5 or MI6 heads.' The crown say that is a discussion about targeting."

The trio will be sentenced at the end of April after a judge adjourned the case for pre-sentence reports.

How chilling and how horrible for the other brother :(

IMO, people like that are mentally unstable. It sounds like someone looking 'for something' who fell prey to a cult-like brainwashing.

I know people have been rescued from cults in the past but it's never without trauma for everyone concerned.

BIB I was just thinking the same. Pity they couldn't just become Jehovah's Witnesses.

The best way for these people is the death penalty. They have commited treason
All mosques should be monitored and any wrong-doing should lead to jail and a death sentence.
