Does Grant Die and Phil Get's his Liver?
Just a thought I had. Ross said he's back for three weeks. The current storyline suggests ordinarily he'd be in it long term. But we know that isn't happening. So, does Grant and Mark Fowler II get in a fight which causes Grant to die which in turn results in Phil getting his liver? Ross also said "It was very hard to finally say goodbye".
Any thoughts?

Organ donation doesn't work that way - the organs go to the person highest on the transplant list which is a match. Even if the person that dies has a relation in dire need of an organ, and they were a match, you can't queue jump in that way.
The only way somebody can donate to a specific person they request is if it is a live donation like bone marrow or a kidney or a liver lobe.
very true but in Eastenders World - Phil would undoubtedly get Grants liver ;-):)
It might be one of the ways they persuaded him - that his character would be killed off so they would never ask again.
Unless Ross told them the only way he would come back is if Grant is killed off.
I did mention the possibility of killing Grant on the Xmas thread ;-)
He doesn't fit into the show now, his latest episodes have been pointless so killing him off is for the best, Phil atleast has a purpose on the show so keeping him alive with Grants kidney is the best way forward.
In the world of EE the liver wouldn't be allowed to leave the square let alone affect the life of someone more than 100 yards away
Ross kemp stated himself that the only person who persuaded him to return was Barbara Windsor and even at that She left him with no choice but to return

With regards to Phil's liver, I doubt Grant would donate seeing as he told Phil to drink himself to death, and argued with him this week, however with Grant now in need of money he could give part of his liver to Phil with the idea of them doing one last 'job' together (ripping off gangsters dealing with briefcases of cash (Grant's first departure)). I wonder though if Ben would be a donor, the two do seem to be getting closer and helping one another. Another thought would be Mark Jr donating part of his liver to his uncle Phil.
Although the liver is a regenerative tissue and living lobe transfer is possible and i believe has been done, I don't think it is a generally approved procedure unlike kidney or bone marrow although i think it it done sometimes.
I can only imagine the reason is down to risk to the donor or a low success rate for the recipient.
I imagne that even with a living donor, if in a trust that allowed it, the recipient would have to have had a certain period of time clean of Alcohol to be considered as it would affect their general health, also it isn't a full transplant so they'd need the liver they were attaching the healthy tissue to, to be as health as possible. Also, the need the the recipient, if it is from Alcohol Abuse, to completely understand what they are getting and not think "great new liver, I can start drinking fresh".
The cast majority of alk transplants will still come from cadaver transplants which means absolutely no link between the donor and recipient and no queue jumping, even if a close relative.
It's possible Mark JNR dies but I doubt it will happen so soon after bringing him in, he has legendary links to the Fowler's, Beale's and Mitchell's, I don't think anyone will die next week.
But i doubt it
