Do we have to have a separate topic for every single month? The forum is getting cluttered with this stuff, and I don't think the vast majority of people are at all interested.

    agreed.

which is why i suggested doing one month per day with youtube links... might get more response, but im not bothering doing 12 a day.

I'll definitely pick a few from this month. I don't think I'll ever budge from my opinion that so many decent tracks could have been #1 or gone on to do better in the charts than they did had people not been rushing out to buy that silly song for weeks on end. I've still not seen the film either!

KENNY THOMAS - THINKING ABOUT YOUR LOVE

Well, here is an example of a singer I'm surprised didn't go on to become a mainstay during the 90s. A great summer track.

SALT N PEPA - DO YOU WANT ME

I think this one's a non-existent memory for a lot of people around at the time. I used to love the 'hold up, wait a minute...' intro.

    PAULA ABDUL - RUSH RUSH

This did get a generous amount of airplay. However, for me it's no contest as to a preferred ballad from this month of 1991.

INCOGNITO FT. JOCELYN BROWN - ALWAYS THERE

A classic from the 'Talkin' Loud' label. I was very fortunate to grow up in a house with a ridiculous amount of vinyl about. Dad had a few copies of this so I had one of them. This got played quite a bit on my Hi Fi. Jocelyn's vocals are flawless and impressive as always. They had some good covers out around this time - 'Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing' being another.

    DIVINYLS - I TOUCH MYSELF

HEAVY D AND THE BOYZ - NOW THAT WE'VE FOUND LOVE

This got played a lot at home - my fault! I was introduced to Third World's 'Now That We Found Love' quite quickly by my parents, but I would have put this down as a favourite song at the time.

My other memory was of the rap he did for Michael Jackson's 'Jam.'

C & C MUSIC FACTORY - THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMM...

I preferred this to 'Gonna Make You Sweat.' It is of the time but not a bad offering for an early 90s track.

    EXTREME - MORE THAN WORDS

I think this is a Marmite track. It did go on to get to #2 I believe, but in my opinion this is precisely a track that was deserving of a #1 placing, even if for just a week.

It is a simple track, and it is a bit slushy but I think the vocals really sell this one, and I think it has a good sentiment about those three, overused words.

    SHAMEN - MOVE ANY MOUNTAIN

Yes they'd go on to score a deserved #1 the following year, but it is a bad thing that this wasn't a top 3 hit (missed out by one place). In my opinion it's a superior track to 'Ebeneezer Goode.'

    CHER - LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING

This is a classic Cher track and a great radio track too.

Maybe you should do it as a poll OP?
