[news]James Bond 23 press conference live: Daniel Craig on 'Skyfall'[/news]
What we know so far (via @dsatthemovies Twitter and the live blog)
  • 'Skyfall' is the title
  • Skyfall is its own story, not connected to Casino Royale or Quantum of Solace
  • The title Skyfall will apparently have "some emotional context which will be revealed in the film"
  • the film will shoot in London, China, Istanbul and Scotland
Also, today is 50 years to the day that Sean Connery was announced as Bond. A documentary is being made to mark the 50th anniversary of James Bond.

Glad they didn't go for a nonsense title with 'Die' in it.:D

Sounds okay, fits in with other "singular" word titles like Moonraker, Thunderball, Goldeneye etc etc. Javier Bardem is great, but I doubt he'll have the Chigurgh haircut.

"Skyfall" sounds more like a sci-fi title by Arthur C Clarke etc BUT as it has been used as another word for Apocalypse and the plot is about a severe threat to Bond's world, it sounds potentially apt.

Whilst I loved the style of Sean Connery and the delivery of Moore, Craig's Bond feels so much closer to the character portrayed in the books - a stubborn and courageous man with faults. Half civil servant and half Jason Bourne. A long way removed from 'Our Man Flint'...

Not over keen on "Skyfall" but it's ok, and given time it will become as familiar as other titles. It is nice to have a one-worder though.
At least things are confirmed now in terms of cast.

Looking forward to the build and release.

    I'm giddy already!

Not watching it if it's anything like that Quantum of Solace. That was deffo not a Bond move. Even Casino Royale was overrated beyond belief.

The producers need to go back to making Bond movies again and not Bourne movies.

Just a question for the Bond fans; I've never watched any but would like to start, do I start with Casino Royale or Dr No?

I respectfully disagree. A return to camp, ham acted, overly derogatory towards women, comedic rubbish doth not what Bond should be about.

Bourne movies are much better ;)

Casino Royale is a good place to start but also Live and Let Die and OHMSS.

Dr No is a good one but try to read the book as well. Its superb.

If you've never seen any bond films before then there's no reason to not start with Casino Royale then move onto the original movies.

Unless you are about 12 years old , if you haven't seen a Bond film yet , there is little point trying now

This being a public forum means everyone can have their say.
However from a personal point of view, i'm getting quite bored of reading the same comments over and over again.
We get it - Quantum was disappointing & Bond is not like Bond anymore.

    Yawn!

Things have a habit of evolving and developing, not everything can stay the same forever i'm afraid.

For the record, Quantum improves with repeated viewings though is still slightly disappointing imo.

They're a great series of films. Why wouldn't you want to recommend them?

If you just want to get stuck in then ITV4 are showing Bond films on Friday nights.

Apart from the two recent Daniel Craig films, you can pretty much watch the Bond series in any order you want. The opening sequence of For Your Eyes Only is set on the tenth anniversary of On Her Majesty's Secret Service, but that's pretty much it as far as continuity goes. Each film is a standalone story with just occasional throwaway references to previous films here and there.

It's not that i don't recommend them , its more a case of if you haven't seen a single Bond film in 49 years you clearly aren't that bothered?!

Tomorrow night (probably at about 10pm) ITV4 are showing For Your Eyes Only, if you want to try that out. :)

Skyfall as a name has really grown on me. And I'm female, but Bernice - wow!

How do you know the circumstances of that poster. For all we know they are 12yr old and just becoming interested in the Bond series.

They could not have been bothered about any films before but a change in life has given them the opportunity to sit down and watch films.

I thought that the Quantum Organisation plot line could have been written into a 3rd film.

What ever happened to Mr. White?

It baffles me when this arguement crops up as Casino Royale and QoS are prequals to the 007 franchise so why would Bond use gadgets when he never used them in Dr No! either?
