hdr 1000s picture issue

Hi guys
Ihave a strange problem with my hdr 1000s
It has only happened twice in the last few weeks
The picture on the screen is the same size as when you have the guide displayed
That is ,its in the top right hand corner even when it should fill the whole screen
Even pressing guide and then exiting guide the picture still does not fill the screen.
then the following day it was fine
It definitely is not the picture ratio on the box because i changed it from auto to 16.9 and 4.3 with no change
Its not my tv because the picture is the correct size and place as if the guide was displayed.
The box was recording both times
I tried putting the box into standbye and back on but no difference
Any ideas
