Goes without saying around these parts, but Capaldi is an absolute gent. Very patient and has a lot of time for people, young and old. Security has to escort him from venues just to stop him signing autographs. Truly lovely.
I've not had a long enough exchange with anyone major to Doctor Who to consider this myself. But my Nan who has and always will loathe Doctor Who ended up chatting to Colin Baker once who she said was one of the most lovely gentlemen she'd ever spoken to. I know she was being serious...she never uses the word 'gentleman/men'
I'd say from what I've heard that Billie Piper and Karen Gillan are also both really friendly and chatty. Capaldi and Coleman go without saying...they're visibly superb with the fans! Especially Capaldi.
Absolutely Colin Baker, as many people will attest.
But also Nick Courtney who would often buy a round of drinks for friends and fans at conventions. Always happy to chat to fans too, genuinely friendly and very entertaining to be with.
Anthony Ainley was quite reserved and quiet but he too would always make time to chat with fans, though more low key and on a one to one level. I once spent at least an hour talking about medieval history with Mr Ainley. He seemed a little disappointed when he was called to go to the panel he was supposed to be on!
I remember going to a convention years ago and was stuck in a queue on the stairs waiting to get in. Suddenly a lot of the guests stars there came out of the room and signed autographs for everyone in the queue and have a quick chat.
Those involved were Colin Baker, Wendy Padbury and I think Elisabeth Sladen(Could be mistaken on that one) All of them were lovely but once inside I remember meeting Deborah Watling and Michael Craze who were happy to talk about their time on the show.
For me though, Caroline John(Liz Shaw) was one of the nicest people as she didn't just talk about her time on the show but was interested in the fans and where they had come from, what they did. Came across as a really genuine person.
I haven't actually met any DW actors/actresses, but from what I've seen in pictures and video footage, Matt Smith is a genuinely nice guy! When he's been signing autographs that is!
I did meet June Whitfield once in 1995, 14 years before she appeared with David Tennant in The End of Time. She was lovely! It was when my Mother appeared on What's My Line? presented by Emma Forbes.

Always liked Caroline John. Very underated companion for Jon Pertwee.
Went to see on set filming and Peter and Jenna were there. Jenna came to the rails and signed a few autographs but they literally had to tell Peter he needed to move because he was too close to the set and had too many people and he moved the fence to get out and basically surrounded himself by fans. As others have said, he had to be dragged away. He was so lovely.

Yes, it is sad that she didn't stay on for another season. Prefer her to Jo Grant IMO.
Caroline may have only appeared in one season, but she did get two guest appearances as Liz in 1983 and 1993.
Katy on the other hand, has only been in SJA as Jo since leaving DW for good in 1973. Weird really, as Katy was in DW the longest out of the two, appearing in three seasons.
I've been involved in a couple of conventions in the past and every guest (from the long list) have been nothing but pleasant, graceful, good-humoured and chatty.
But the ones that stand out for me were;
Colin Baker because he's generally an all round good sport, quick witted, extremely intelligent, was open to talk about anything as I sat with him in the green room.
Caroline John - sometimes myself and my identical twin brother would have a free table or two selling old DW memorabilia in the dealer's merchandise room (the benefits of organising dealer's tables).
About 20 years ago, Caroline walked in to the merch-room to kill some time as she wasn't due on stage yet for another 2 hours. She had a little wander going from table to table, always smiling and saying 'hello' and curious at how wonderful all the merch looked. It was the first time I had ever seen her and as she came to our stall her eyes widened and the broadest of smiles eclipsed her face, it was one of those looks you get from a best friend that you haven't seen for years!
Both my brother and I glanced at each other quickly, both thinking one of us had never told the other that one of us knew her really well?!
Two faces that look exactly the same, with the exact same expression looking back at her.
'Oh my dears' she said. 'Aren't you the cutest things!' (we were 25 ).
The next 5 minutes were a barrage of quickfire 'twin' questions, ranging from first born, second birth, growing up, same interests, etc. Because we had 20+ years of it, every answer flowed like mercury and also by then we had mastered to inject humour into each answer, it's almost like a routine.:)
We were all in the zone and failed to notice that the room was filling up quickly from an influx of people as probably something had finished in the stage area.
She looked at her watch and then asked if she didn't mind us chatting to her and that she'd give us a hand with behind the stall and continue to chat as she was enjoying our company!
Why us, you may ask, well it turned out that she also had twin sons of the same age and similar in looks and style.
She stayed chatting about all and sundry and helping wrapping and bagging for another 90 minutes until her curtain call. ♥♥
Aw. Nice story, Daniel. Always thought she was a sweetheart.
Only met Jon and Colin of the Doctors, and have only nice memories. Only went to a few conventions in the Eighties, but the one in Bristol I went to in 1986 (I think) was a lovely, informal affair. David Banks and Michael Kilgarriff were particularly nice and chatty, and Victor Pemberton was also delightful.
Did see Mr Eccleston striding down a high street in Cardiff prior to Series 1, and David T and Catherine Tate filming 'The Runaway Bride' on the same street.
Actually, I also gave David Collings directions on said street once too! After I'd pointed him in (hopefully) the right direction, I said, rather obviously, "You're David Collings, aren't you?" A bit surprised, he said yes (obviously!) and I shook his hand and told him that he was a fine actor and went about my way.
Met Paul mcgann on a long train a few years ago was an absolute delight.
Happy to talk about doctor who his acting work (never knew he was audition for 007.)
And about 30 mins about liverpool football club.
He's not been in Doctor Who! But he is quite nice.
I'm currently working on a show where we had Peter Davison be a guest presenter and, unfortunately I didn't get to meet him, but the researcher was a big fan and said how nice he was. I've seen Peter Davison a couple times in TV shows/theatre and when he's not been acting he's seemed very nice.
I haven't seen any other characters, except Burn Gorman in a pub, I didn't actually speak to him though so can't say how nice he was. I've met Olivia Coleman and she wasn't very friendly, maybe she doesn't like people dressed all in black and dark eye liner - even though I did smile at her.
It's amazing they dont snap more often. Considering some of the desperados and utter ming mongs who turn up to filming and your average convention I'm surprised they don't carry a Taser and some pepper spray.
Anneke Wilks and Terry Molloy were really lovely when meeting two girls (4 and 2) when I went with friends to a convention in 2006.
My local DW group (about 14 of us) took Anneke on a day trip to Portmeirion back in 1999. She was another that was so relaxed to talk about anything. I remember having a conversation in the car as we wound around the bendy North Wales roads on the way there about how much she was enjoying a hippy renaissance in her maturer years and magic mushrooms!
She enjoyed the trip (Portmeirion, not the shrooms) so much that she asked to come again the following year, with Frazer Hines in tow, no less. Which she/they did.
Lovely memories.:)
My friends met David Tennant and said he was lovely. Their youngest son was a bit overwhelmed at meeting his hero but DT put him at ease and they were soon chatting away like old pals.

Anneke, mushrooms and Portmeirion....sounds like fun day out! I'd have been banging on about Anthony Newley and The Strange World of Gurney Slade more than Who. Very interesting woman.
Polly and Jamie in Portmeirion, one of whom expounding the joy of mushrooms, entertaining 14 fans a decade after the show was canned. Every time you think you've heard it all about Doctor Who fandom another joyful anecdote comes wafting by.

( Jenna was nice too... as was her mother )

David T, Chris E, and Elisabeth S are the nicest.
Peter D is the most unpleasant.
Olivia C is real shy and awkward with fans but nice.

Chatted longer with June Brown about "Doctor Who" when she lived in Folkestone.
