Will there ever be a remake of this wonderful science fiction masterpiece?

Lynch was sort of halfway there in his 1984 version but sadly it was not completed.

Who would you cast and who would you have direct it?

The spice must flow!

There were the 2 mini series made for the Sci Fi channel around 200 I think. I quite enjoyed them as they more closely followed the books than the David Lynch film. There is a remake in pre-production now. The film is due out 2012.

The film is in pre-production with Pierre Morel (13th District, Taken) due to direct. 3D too. Desperately trying to make it its own production and not like the Lynch version apparently.

    i'll go further

Star Wars (the first 3) werent much better

All vastly overrated, average effects, kid's stories

Now 2 good space movies were

    Starship Troopers and Soldier

great human interest stories - especially in Starship Troopers, when the blonde girl tries to seduce Johnny Rico

I greatly enjoyed the Original movie, I remember seeing some of the first mini series but thought that the person playing Baron Harkonnen was a very poor choice, in no way seemed evil or menacing compared to the one in the movie.

The 2 TV mini-series mentioned above are very good, despite being shot entirely in a studio in Prague with a multi-national cast.

Quite liked the books, didn't think much of the book or miniseries.

The books(the ones written by Frank Herbert) are excellent
it is a shame he died before completion of the epic series
