I think the clue is in the station name, would love to hear Simon do a Golden Hour on Radio 2.

That's the station's usual output. They tend to go for the soulful end of things. If I remember rightly, Smooth Radio grew out of Jazz.FM a few years ago.
That is why I tend to listen to Magic 1152 - when they do the Golden Years or top 20 countdown - they do a mixture of everything. A bit like Jimmy Savile used to do on Radio 1!
