EU legislation and OFCOM rules state that any product placement shouldn't be given undue prominence which is why we've not seen Dev banging on about Nationwide Business Accounts thank God.
I can honestly say that unless they held it right up to the camera I wouldn't notice. I spent days trying to find the 'Visit Yorkshire' posters before I finally noticed one in the cafe.
There has always been covert advertising on TV - products in the shops, products in the home etc. I once wrote and asked the BBC who got the payment for this, but I didn't get an answer.

I don't mind that sort of thing as long as it adds to the authenticity. It annoys me when characters say things like 'pop' or 'cola' instead of coke, or their reading a magazine with some bizarre made -up name, like 'Hiya' or something.
