The editing / cutting certain events while retaining others

So, BB decided to completely cut the stuff that might have painted Kimberly in a bad light (plotting with Helen, pretending to support Jale), yet Jale and the PH thing is made a big deal, with a segment of discussion on BOTS, etc. The reason I've compared these two is because they're both situations that show certain housemates in slightly different lights.
Yes, I know they can't show everything, etc, but the Kim stuff seemed more important than, say, Pauline exorcizing in the morning, or Mark getting moody in the kitchen.
That's not a Kim hate thing by the way, she's one of my favourites, I wanted more light shed on that event for that reason actually. I agree with the Jale thing being included, I just think other seemingly more important things should be too, rather than some of the little pointless things they sometimes decide to show.
In a nutshell, it just annoys me that they'll run with the "popular housemate does something disappointing" story for one, but not the other.

Oh, and I forgot to add to my opening post, obviously the Jale / Chris situation is continuing into the following days and is probably a bigger deal than the Kimberly thing, but I just feel the edit regarding the housemates should be more equal, rather than some having their bad moments made into a big deal, while some have theirs' completely brushed over in the main show.
Yes, I know, by BB15 I should be used to the edit not being fair all the time.
Very true. As Kim was a favourite of mine, I really wanted more context. And it's highly irritating for them to feed us little tidbits without any real clarification, only to leave no trace whatsoever in the main show. And these confusing clips that aren't expanded upon in the main show are meant to be a good replacement for live feed? Kind of insulting.
But yeah, I just feel this kind of thing is important to retain in some manner in the main show. If something may alter someone's view of a housemate, people have a right to see it (and not everyone does see the online clips).
Now, I'm not defending Jale's recent actions, but I really do feel it's unfair that her disappointing moment has been highlighted (I agree with it being shown, by the way) while Kimberly's possible misstep has been shown in the little online clips alone.
I guess I just feel it's all a little selective in terms of who gets to be turned into a villain of the show, etc, rather than flaws being highlighted equally.
Witha bit of luck Pauline herself will be exorcized on Friday.
I can't believe I didn't notice that. Or that I even typed that. My excuse is that I was tired last night. :D
And that was what BB was all about in the early days, the dynamics of the house rather thsn concentrating on ridiculous and often fake story lines.
... or maybe it was just another discussion out of 100 others about who is the power house mate, and Kimberly's fake argument with Helen was a lot of video time to explain a small event that was just trying to see people's reactions.
??
It would be good to know if it is really important though
For me, Kim's one of the better HMs so the more of her the better. That's (part of) my agenda.
This is a very good point - and a much fairer argument than "it wasn't like that in the older days" (which is rubbish, because they massively played up the Helen/Paul focus even back then).
I'm not sure how much they're protecting Kim, but given there's hardly any chance for any of the males to get evicted for a few weeks, I can see why they'd want her to survive.
They are quite hamstrung by the fact they have no idea which issues are going to be important in the long-term and they can only show so much. Unlike most shows, they can't retroactively prioritise certain events.
Nah, it's because they want Kim to be a goodie. They wanted Jale to be a goodie too until all of the bullying accusations. Then they took the opportunity last night to shut people up by showing her being two-faced with Chris.
I think it was right to show what happened with Jale, as it's significant.
But it's unforgivable to not show the Kimberly stuff too as that was certainly significant.
It does tend to support the idea that they have pre-planned how they want to portray each housemate even if the reality suggests something different.
I'm inclined to think that there may be an element of truth to this.
Anybody remember the bullying in CBB involving Shilpa Shetty. When on Bit on the Psych, or whatever they called it back then, they ran a feature hosted by Dermot asking the question "Does the victim make themselves get bullied?"
It was quite incredible.
In hindsight that blew back up in their face in a big way.
But I do think it was right to show what happened yesterday as it was significant to events in the house. But they'll know that it's also very convenient for them.
Yeah, that's very true. It's not that I necessarily feel that they excluded the Kim / Helen stuff with a "Let's protect her" mindset, just that they brushed aside one event that may have challenged viewers' opinions of a housemate while highlighting another (though I do appreciate that the Jale situation will be a bigger deal in the house than the Kim thing).
And, as I like Kim, I would have liked more context on the situation regardless.
They have an hour to play with.
In earlier series they only had half an hour.
In that hour there is much filler that could quite easily be omitted to make way for more significant events.
In one show a few days ago they devoted far too much time to a silly gameshow task with gunge which seemed like it went on forever.
Yeah, I definitely think it was a significant thing to show. I mean, the whole Jale thing that's being talked about at the moment relates to people believing she betrayed someone in the house who's been good to her, and she's now having a hard time on here for it.
But, from the few clips we were provided, Kim's actions of conspiring with Helen and then pretending to defend Jale could be seen as her betraying Jale, someone who's been a friend to her. The difference is, Jale's mistake was highlighted in the main show and she will now be judged more widely for that than Kim will be for her actions, as hers were limited to the online clips not seen by most viewers.
On top of that, Kim is pretty popular, so I think the viewers (her fans especially) have the right to know if she's done something that might disappoint them. (I'm not saying it would disappoint all, but at least people who don't see the online clips could see the events and form their opinion).
It's true that they can't show everything, but I don't think they prioritized well. I would have thought this would have been more important than Pauline exercising in the morning, for example.
Tosh!
In the olden days we did see the romances start, Mel and Edward/Tom but not to the detriment of the other HMs. In my head I can still see ALL of the HMs from BB1, these days I struggle to remember the finalists in recent BBs. (And to correct you - Helen and Paul fell in love, it was lovely to watch it happen. That year it was BBs pushing of the other romance with Brian set up and not wanting it, that took up valuable air space)
If we did away with the preview at the start and the flash backs when CH5 want to influence voters', we'd have more time for showing what the whole house is up to rather than the noisy few.
We saw Winston keeping jale company the other night and then choosing her to tell his vominting story to - what's going on there? Does she have a friend in Winston? Has CH5 been selling us the Princess Di pic in front of Taj Mahal by always showing Jale on her own? Have they now tired of that and decided to let the real Jale out of the cupboard ? We don't know because we have so little to go on.
