In NI you do not get charged for an appointment with you're doctor or A & E at hospital or even for a stay in hospital.
At the dentist children appointments & treatment is free.
How does this compare with ROI.
What are the costs for these services in ROI.

A medical card is means tested in Ireland . If ypu earn below thd threshold ( taking the family into account ) you get free GP , free A+E and prescriptions

Otherwise you pay the GP , circa € 55 a viisit . A+E is €100 . If you are admitted from A and E the charge is waivered . Hospital admissions in public wards is free as is consultant out patients visits
Prescriptions are capped at € 110 a month for a family if you have no medical card
Over 70's have medical cards as have most long term illnesses
If you have a long term illness ( from a set list ) you are entitled to all drugs for that illness free
For examlpe Type 1 diabetics get all insulin and monitoring equipment free

Its a bit complicated , so if you need any specific information you are best searching for it on Citizens information site
