How about Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly as dead royals?

I'm disgusted that it's taken until Post #29 for Queen Heather's name to appear on this list.

Noel Gallagher. :) Creator of songs that a generation will sing and enjoy for ever. With new fans finding his music each and every year :):)

Totally agree, one of the greatest ever male songwriters from the UK.

In terms of royality no bigger and better then Benny and Bjorn of ABBA. As bono has said, "We are not worthy"

    In the music industry

you can't get bigger than Beyonce and Jayz. They have so much influence in the music industry and most peers consider them as the top of the list. Producers and writers would kill to collaborate with them.

I think Britney, Gaga and Madonna are the three blondes at the top of the list.
Followed by Rihanna and Beyonce or Beyonce and Rihanna.
Not really a Beyonce fan but wont deny her success.

Actually I said it in Post #17.

I love that of all the names in this thread, Heather Small has probably had the most mentions. Paparazzo... Mr.F....we should be proud. <<<<< Yes, that's intentional.

5 or 10 years ago I would have added George Michael, but he's become quite the joke. I totally agree that, of those who survive, Macca is the undisputable king of pop music.

    Also:

    Rebecca Black
    Jedward
    Sinitta
    Willow

All obvious yet bizarrely missed names...

He might be getting on a bit at 84 - but Chuck Berry is still alive!

And still touring the world, pretty much without a break for the last 3 or 4 decades. Astonishing human being.

Both are unquestionably rock'n'roll royalty, but of the two only Buddy Holly is dead.

I'm sorely tempted to add the Daddy of Blues, B.B. King, to my list - but then I could just go on and it will turn into a list of my personal musical Gods!

Blimey! I never hear anything about him so I'd just assumed he'd popped his clogs years ago. Very impressive he's still gigging, too.

I hope that was said with at least a little bit of Irony.;)

You can pretty much define the list in terms of an artists sucess, old or new, so... to name a few,: Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Whitney Houston.
As for males, Michael Jackson, Usher (probably), Eminem, Justin Bieber (People may not like him, me included--i would never usually consider someone like him to be royalty--but one can't deny he's probably the biggest male star at present).

To be classed as music royalty you have to have really achieved so much over such a long period of time and to be top of the top and remembered forever.
Gaga and bieber are far, far away from music royalty same as about 80% of the other aritsts mentiond in this thread
