I use this as my office phone and to record conversations.

No doubt the PC police will be on here soon asking why you want to record conversations and telling you that you have to warn the other party. I say stuff 'em, record if you want to!

    I'll say it's for training purposes. :)

Do you just press a button when you pick up the phone to answer to record them ?

    OK thanks.

And it has caller ID display so I can see who I don't want to speak to of course. ;)

Will have to get BT to enable it of course I think it's free now.

The Siemens S450 DECT allows you to record calls too.

You can get caller ID free with BT Privacy at home if you make some calls with BT : 0800 121 8000 is the number to get it

You only need to warn the other person if you plan to use the recording as evidence, as long as one of you know that the conversation is being recorded and it's just for your own use, then that's fine.

That's a handy no I just registered for caller display. :)
I did try 150 to speak to someone, never easy but it said the sales were closed after 10pm.

Now all I need is a phone that if I get sales calls I can send a squirt of water down the line like a water pistol. :p

If you calls automatically go through another operator such as Primus Saver 2, Sky Talk etc, to keep Caller Display for free, you just need to make 2 calls per month or 6 per quarter (depending on billing period) via BT, to do this simply prefix the call with 1280.

If you haven't taken up cheaper calls from other providers and your calls all go through BT, then you don't have to worry about how many calls go over BT.

I use 1899 for my calls or 18185 to a mobile.

Will make a few calls thru BT to give me the free Caller ID Display.

    I get a quarterly bill.

Right, so it's just a case of not prefixing certain calls for them to go via BT.

They also give 1571 'nearly free' - but it's easy to see through that!

I like to phone someone and if there is no reply I'll phone later, that way there is no charge for the call.
I used to phone my brother on his mobile and after about three rings it went to voicemail so I had to pay for the call,so annoying. And he didn't know how to turn voicemail off.

They don't like someone phoning and if you're not in they get nothing, it's all about getting more and more money from you.

Yeah, that's exactly what Heinz and myself feel about 1571 / Voicemail, a simple money making scam.

When I used to post about my annoyance with this scam, I used to get flamed.

I got my BT Paragon and my Caller display has been enabled.I find the display a little difficult to read.
Haven't tried to record any phone calls yet just reading the User Guide.
