3 Network - FaceTime - possible?

For various reasons I'm considering moving from O2 to 3.

However it appears that 3 charge 51p per minute for video (FaceTime) calls. Although they are unsure whether they even support the feature.

I would have thought that this was included in the data plan.

And, as a non phone technical person. If I'm at home and have a 3G signal, will the phone automatically route via WiFi (non chargeable) i.e how does it know?

Currently everything goes via WiFi as I do not get a mobile signal at home - hence the potential to change supper.

Anyone on 3 use FaceTime - what are your experiences?

The video call charge doesn't include FaceTime calls, as they go over any internet connection, whether it's WiFi or your 3G data allowance, so if you have all-you-can-eat data, it doesn't cost any extra to use it as much as you want.

FaceTime is a proprietary system developed by Apple that routes data over an internet connection.

It's not possible to use it over a 3G network unless you:

    a) Have an iPhone 4S or 5

    b) Have iOS 6.0 installed (released Wednesday - 19th September)

It will simply use your data allowance, so there's no specific cost for using it.
