Regarding the apostrophe, I asked about this at university (medieval Scottish history unit, multiple kings called James, couldn't avoid a king ending in 's' when writing essays) and was told that either was OK as long as the usage was consistent, i.e. not James's in one sentence and James' in the next. I can't actually remember what I ended up as both ways felt equally right and wrong. (I must confess that I try and reword sentences that run into this problem.)

Bake Off night tonight! I wonder who will go? I'm worried about Christine as I'm sure last week's trailer had her panicking that it wasn't her week.

(Out of curiosity I checked my old essay, I went with James's. :) )

i assume you need to butter them? do you put little discs of greaseproof in the bottom?
I grease them, but no greaseproof paper. That would send me round the bend.

I love the idea of coaxing loose bottoms. (Apologies for thinking that sounded funny),

I tried to find another way of saying it, but none hit the spot! :D

thanks for answering i'm debating whether to buy them and i always like to hear about first hand experience of a new(ish) product.
you could use, to save your sanity, the precut jam toppers! it might help the troublesome bottoms!!

I hope not :(. Christine is quite funny under her marm exterior... like last week when she was praying to 'the God of Crisp' to bless her filo pastry.... while a bemused Ali stared at her :D

I clearly remember being taught at school to use just the one apostrophe too!

Same here. I was punished and ridiculed for doing otherwise. Though when I entered this country more then a decade ago I was bemused to see St James's Park...

I've now got to the point where I don't want anyone to go. Even Frances has potential, if she can just scale back the OTT concepts, as demonstrated by winning last week's technical challenge.

I'll be sorry to see anyone leave tonight, whoever it turns out to be.

I shan't, but hope it isn't Frances. You're right - her performance in the technical challenges show how good she can be if she just tones down the whacky art installations and concentrates on flavours and textures!

Evening all, well I have no-one local to cheer anymore now that Ali's gone out, so I think I'll be supporting Glenn and Christine.

If I have to hope for someone to go out, please let it be Frances. Not everything has to have a concept - save it for the showstoppers where it's expected, otherwise, where can you go further?

i prefer any programme NOT to have previews...i'm watching it i don't want to watch twice i'd rather have a few minutes of other footage
