Well I knew they did this, I dont really give it much thought.. thinking about it I dont think i give it any real thought.
and you might think differently if you bought house and found 15% of it was missing
but it's a bag of crisps - and 15% is pence to you and me - that's how Walkers how we feel about the whole scam - as they net an extra 75 million profit by not giving you 30 grms crisps
if they were to do the same in the building industry, there would be uproar

Stupid comparison:rolleyes:
Multi packs clearly state the weight of the contents, so what's the problem?
In that case maybe they should give *your* kids 50% less and then you'll be twice as happy
Walkers are not short-measuring for kid health benefits - Walkers are short-measuring because it instantly increases profit of their £500,000,000 ish annual turnover by about
The real scam of walkers crisps is that they are the worst crisps ever made but are the biggest sellers because ads are aimed at kids.
Overheard two kids whilst I'm waiting in a local newsagent,
2 packet of crisps please mister, they are offered two packets of seabrooks (the best crisps ever) reply, we don't want that crap haven't you got walkers?
It shows that no matter how inferior your product is if your advertising is aggressive and relentless enough it will work:rolleyes:
... Mars Bar is defined by what they are selling at the moment in a single unit, any reference to "twin pack" is basically saying "two of those single bars over there on the shelf"...
Thank goodness some one else can see the deceit going on - and you're quite right - that's exactly what they are saying - there is no point calling it a 'twin' pack if you dont know what 'one' is - but we do know what 'one' mars bar is, we have eaten loads of em, so Mars are using that definition "a bar" to beat us over the head with
This was all pioneered by Walkers years ago
They clearly defined for us all what "a bag" of crisps is, and this "bag" has always contained 30 grams, still does - they then used that very very familiar definition to describe a multi-pack (not as weight), but as 12 "bags" of crisps, and took that opportunity to scam
Mars have done the same with "bars" - and your local B & Q now sell "bags" of cement (which dont even have weight on)

Waitrose sell single packs of 34.5g Walkers crisps for 42p a packet. This works out to a cost of £1.22 per 100g
Waitrose also sell multipacks of 6 x 25g Walkers crisps for £1.35 per multipack. This works out to a cost of £0.90 per 100g.
So where are Walkers making more money from us by selling multipacks?
Very true - the profit margin on multipacks is much smaller than that on standard bags. You just have to look at the amount of deals available to see that all manufacturers make very little money on these
My local Lidl (or Fidl, as I prefer to call it) open the bags of multipack Walkers - that work out at about 14p per bag - and sell them for the full-size price of around 35p each (probably more now).
I complained to Head Office, was fobbed off with a voucher and was told it wouldn't happen again and the area manager was looking into it. It is still going on a year later and I no longer buy any.
This is really all you have to worry about? Hmm... not sure if I envy you or pity you.
Not sure why you bothered posting - you've contributed zippo
but Walkers rely on such apathy
if 15% of your house (that you bought from Walkers Construction Company) was missing - you'd have a bit more to say about it
just because Walkers scam small sums of lot people, and not large sums of fewer people doesn't negate Walkers scooping extra £15 million by short changing

Report them to trading standards, I'm sure they would love that!

Where is the proof of this accusation? Link please
Firstly, Fidl sent me a letter (and a voucher) saying they would look into it, send the area manager to investigate and that it wouldn't occur again, as I said.
When I noticed it happening again a few weeks later, I contacted TS - and have received nothing to this day.
After that, I just gave up buying any at all there.

Hang on, you £75 million a while back. Make up your mind.
And as Ber pointed out, you are still getting more crisps for you penny in a multipack than a standard bag, so you are in no way shape of form loosing out

but before you see that - you've already bought what you *know* as '12 "bags" of crisps'
Walkers dont have any other reason to sell short measure in multi-packs other than to deceive
A link to prove this would be nice please
Only to fat people.

You are aware you can read the label of a multipack before you buy it, aren't you?
And that every multipack says n x 25g packs (where n is the size of the multipack), as it has to by law.
And that trading standards actually do check these things.
There's no deceit there
Also, your turnover and profit figures are way out (£500 billion turnover..)

But it's you who hasn't properly read the bag, where the information is printed, and you're the one deceiving yourself...

EDIT, beaten to it by DGSx! Damn you!

Nah - he is obviously trolling as no one could be that deliberatly pig-headed and thick.
Well spotted - i was first fouled by this when i wanting to set some fence posts and discovered i was short-served in 'a bag' and had to get some more
but you're quite right - expect some walls to fall down because they dont have enough cement to hold them together
.

You serious?
That's like asking a goal keeper whether the ball went over the line
whilst ever they continue netting extra £15 million profit whilst acting within the law - they will continue - obviously!
hence the law needs to catch up with them quickly - they seem to have set a precedence on this re-defining their own "bag" size
.

Cement being completely off topic, but why would you make an assumption on how much was in a bag of cement?
http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?isSearch=true&fh_search=cement&x=14&y=7
B&Q website shows 10kg, 20kg and 25kg bags for sale. EDIT: And 5kg bags!
