I have a 7 year old 26" Grundig Vestel lcd tv in my bedroom which I'm thinking of changing .I have measured up and I can accomodate a 32 tv .Is it worth paying the extra for a full hd set with freeview hd or getting a hd ready set with standard freeview ..any advice based on experience welcome .Thanks

I have a 32in Full HD TV and although it does not have Freeview HD I use it with a Humax PVR that does. At anything up to about 10 feet away it is possible to tell the difference between SD and HD. Though the best effect is probably somewhere around 5 or 6 feet max. which is borderline too close for comfort.
The only reason perhaps for going full HD/Freeview HD is that the HD channels can look better than the SD versions simply due to the better encoding of the video used. But even that can become marginal at anything over 10 feet or so.
Another thing to factor in is that a good HD Ready set, eg a Panasonic may have inherently better picture quality than a cheap Tesco special that is Full HD.
