Nile Rodgers was the trailblazer for the disco acts of the 70s, as well as forming Chic he produced Sister Sledge's album We Are Family . He doesn't get the recognition he deserves, he's been battling cancer and I really hope he beats it. If the worst happens and the tributes flood only then will everyone know how he shaped music over the last 30 odd years.
I agree

Absolutely. It could be argued that Madonna owes her career to him as well.
Nile and Bernard were absolute musical legends who have never really got the recognition they deserve.
I've always been a bit of a soul and disco queen anyway but just read his autobiography and saw the BBC4 show and my love for him has increased.
The fact that I want Your Love came to him in a dream and he wrote it as soon as he woke up is enough on it's own to call him a legend.
As for the DP song - well I love Nile, I love Pharrell and I love DP so what's not to like?
This has already smashed.

Big DP fan but this is more of a homage than a real statement. I don't listen to loads of disco but I have a fair few compilations and this song could've been lifted from any of them and you wouldn't notice any difference. That's not necessarily a bad thing but I expected more from the French masters
Really poor chart performance right there, I fully expect them to be dropped by their label in the next 1-2 weeks.
In all seriousness, I have to say I like this track. Very safe in that it doesn't stray from their older stuff but blows most other chart fodder out of the water...

I'm glad someone else has mentioned Sister Sledge's We Are Are Family because after listening to Get Lucky a few times, I knew it reminded me of something, and then We Are Family came to me. Get Lucky without the vocal track is pretty much a complete copy of We Are Family. The instrumental is on Grooveshark.

It shows talent and class when you can put out something highly unoriginal that's still far better than anything done by your current contemporaries.

Stunning performance! particularly as they haven't been massive single sellers before. Their Nigerian marketing team need to pull their finger out though:D
thought this song was disappointing at first, but after a few listens it is infectious!
wow - that is mega impressive Itunes statistics... for such a unique under the radar band ....its of Madonna and Lady Gaga global proportions1 so Pleased to see a return to quality music for fun and enjoyment1 Disco is so what the world needs!
They've made into the top ten - very impressive for 2 days worth of sales. They're almost guaranteed to hit the top five today and have a real shot at number one either today or next week!
I only recently got into Daft Punk but I've come to really adore them and I'm so happy they're making such a triumphant return!
