ITV Cilla Preview and Q+A

There is going to be a preview of Sheridan Smith in ITV's 'Cilla' at the BFI in London on Tues 9th Sept.
There will be a q+a with director ,writer and cast after.Tickets avail from BFI website.
Just seen the trailer and it looks great
Can't wait to see the full thing on the 9th Sept!

    If it's as bad as the trailer they're showing at the moment then you won't be missing much. Sheridan Smith singing Anyone Who Had a Heart is lol funny.

    I've not seen a trailer for this yet. Is it Sheridan herself singing or is she miming to Cilla's original vocals?

    Sheridan Smith is singing. It's awful. She sounds like Kate Robbins doing an impersonation of Cilla on Spitting Image.

    Daniel Mays & Sheridan Smith seem to be popping up in a lot of ITV dramas lately. Both in the fantastic Mrs Biggs and Mays in The Great War. Unsure on Sheridan in this new drama but then i'm not sure it'll be a particularly interesting story anyway, was never a fan of Cilla Black.

    Sheridan Smith will do a good job, she always does
    She was singing in the West End in her part in Legally Blonde, she was excellent

    Not in the least bit awful, she's a fine singer and actress, this series will be a huge hit

    Well she can't be any worse than the real Cilla that's for sure, And the Scouse accent actually sounds like one, unlike the girl with the 'furr hurr' ;-)

    She might not be very nice, but I'm not sure she's in the same category as those three specimens :o

    in your opinion, besides it doesn't need to be an impersonation but an interpretation which she carries off perfectly

    I'd trust my judgement over yours any day, the proof of the pudding will be in the ratings, I think they'll be high

    It's her. Cilla didn't have a great singing voice but she wasn't that bad.

    I can't stand Cilla Black - but before she had her nose operation - I think she did actually have a good voice. Strong and distinctive. After the nose job - it went all weak and reedy. Listen to some early songs like 'Love of The Loved', 'Its For You', 'Alfie' and 'You're My World' and you'll hear the difference between her voice then and the voice that most people seem to associate her with (a-la Surprise Surprise).
