the females have a triangular anal fin, like a normal fin shape, the males have a long thin anal fin called a gonopodium which they flick forward to pass sperm to the females.
id lose the varigated plant from in there as as far as im aware its not a true aquatic plant and will eventually just rot down.
i would keep the bubbles on all the time personally, through the night when the lights are out the plants will be using the oxygen rather than producing it. saying that with the filter on 24/7 oxygenation shouldnt be an issue so its up to you at the end of the day.
I realised that later on, (I have changed the post now),
I had asked for Guppies but been given Platy instead, but they still are ok, love their ringed eyes.
One of them is racing about the tank like its posessed, it keeps seeing the reflection of itself.
I think I can figure out the females, two of them have a frilly fin near its poo shute! and one does not so guess he is the male.
Not sure what plant you mean, but got a pack of 30 plants for £4 so just added what they sent.
the bubbles are mainly for my benefit more than the fish as bubbles make the tank look better. will try and keep it on but if i hear bubbling water when trying to sleep then thats not good and it will be turned off, maybe get a timer for it on during day off at night.
i found that one out that hard way.
really annoying. paid £1.50 for it,it looked lovely in the tank but then it just went to mush
need tog et some more plants for mine actually. and a handful of tetras
(made the mistake of scrubbing the back of the tank clean... now it looks rather bare
OP - tank is looking good
i am jealous!
I was not expecting to have fry so soon after getting the fish a few days ago.
will they mostly been eaten already by parents?
will they be eaten?
what should I do?, what do i feed them etc?????????????????????????????????
i have recovered four of them into the net above., looks like the rest if any was turned into Sushi.
***Edit***
I have just seen one of the females chase and eat a fry,

its such a novilty to have them especially when not expected so will try and keep them alive. In future will leave them to fend for themself in the main tank, that way nature can take its course.
Yeah, eventually you will have millions of them, and they will start breeding amongst themselves, you will end up with mutant fry after a couple of months when the parents start mating with their kids....eww :P
Next lot will just let nature take its course, if they cant swim fast or hide they will be eaten. am sure in real wild most interbreed with each other so not an issue.
Liking how you skated over the process LOL
