Anyone who watched 'Take the High Road' will instantly recognise the actress, who played the role of the 'lady laird', Sam Hagan. In an apparent suicide, Ms McRoberts threw herself in front of a train, at the Fulham Broadway tube station, on Wednesday. It is so sad, that anyone feels that things have become so unbearably bad, that they need to do this. Obviously, she was troubled. Deep, deep sympathies to her husband, the Downton actor, David Robb and her family. So sad to lose someone so young.

Terrible she was a great actress.

People need to understand how bad depression is it is not simply feeling down you loose the will to live and it's a constant battle to keep going every day. If you feel depressed you need to get help and support and not deal with it alone.

Rest in peace Briony I hope you are at peace now.

I'm sorry she felt so bad but what a selfish way to go , the poor driver and witnesses.

When people are very depressed and suicial they don't think rationally. It must have been awful for the driver though :(

    How awful!

Also reading up on this I noticed Lesley Fitz-Simmons who played Sheila Ramsey in Take The High Road died earlier this year from cancer.

People who are depressed think that the world would be better off without them. They feel that very deeply. Although they are probably aware that a suicide may traumatise people, they feel that it is better for the world to be without them.

It's a very complex emotion and cannot be described as selfish. In fact, it is more of a warped selfless emotion.

Why is this so hard to understand for people?

    RIP Briony,

what an awful way to die - by the way throwing yourself under a train is not a foolproof way to die - there are people who survive terribly maimed - I believe this week there has been one such case.

RIP. Wasn't familiar with her work, but it's always sad when someone takes their own life.

I'm glad you asked this, because I have been wondering this myself. All(or most) the stories have in their headline 'Eastenders star', but none of them say who she played and when she was in it  'Take The High Road star' or 'Accomplished actress' would be more appropriate, I think.

Edit: Her Eastenders appearances aren't even listed on her IMDB page, which reinforces the last sentence of my above paragraph.
