Making a balcony more private.

My flat has a balcony off of my living room, which has metal bar railings and anyone can see through it.
I came up with the idea of hanging or 'threading' some grass matting through the bars to make it more secluded, but even after entensive Googling, I can't come up with anywhere that sells it and I want to do it asap.
Also, I thought of some sort of heavy canvas but can't think of how to secure it.
I don't want plants or plant boxes as there isn't enough room and I don't have green fingers!
Does anyone kindly have any suggestions or ideas or where I can get either grass/straw matting or canvas or any other ideas?

There is a balcony I see from train on my commute which is screened with stuff like this.
It does look a bit tatty tho.

What about bamboo? or What about those grassy panels you get in the DIY shops? You could weave ties through the grass and in and out of the bars.

Mimi, I know what you mean about it possibly looking tatty, but I intend not to use it all year round, only while it's summer so I can sit out in more privacy.
Mimi, Belaaahhhh, Pyramid and Abba - thank you so much, I really appreciate your help.
If youd like to be groovy !!
Don't tempt me!
I guess it depends on how much care you take on getting a good fit and fixing it nicely.
It would be lovely to able to use your balcony more.
Toast us with your first drink!
Ships chandlers, or craft shops.
Lol, thanks Pam - just what I intend to do!
That would look as nice as weaving pages of newspaper through the bars I'd have thought.
I do like the idea of the panels of straw/reeds, easy to cut to size, look nice, sturdy and weatherproof.:)
I was thinking more of putting it on the glass so people couldn't look in, which was the problem
PMSL!!:D:D
I was thinking more of how it would look from where Radio is sitting, I'd want it to have some nice visual appeal as well as affording her some privacy.:p
:eek::eek: Please, No !
...
Thanks for the further comments and replies everyone.
Mimi - I Googled all the B&Q, Homebase and Argos stores (and garden centres) near me - and not so near - and they all seem to be out of stock. So I tried again last night and 'luckily' found one in stock fairly near, at B&Q, so I reserved it. This morning whilst I was getting ready to go, they called to say it was a mistake and they never had any in stock after all. Grr!
Then I found one at Argos, but it's too high (it would block the balcony in altogether! So I shall have to keep searching!
Warmleatherette - the balcony is made of metal bars and not glass, so I can't stick anything on, but thanks for the suggestion.
Mutley - I do get very hot but I won't subject my neighbours to seeing me in the altogether (the top half of me anyway.)
Once I've made it secluded, I intend to get a couple of chairs and a little table, and a big pot with a shrubby thing in it, although the way things are going, that may be a while. Then my mind runs away and I'm thinking of a big parasol, some fairy lights and a lantern! But I'm trying to keep it simple, so we'll see.
Thanks again everyone, for being so brilliant with your help, suggestions and interest.
