What noise does a dog make?

I would say bark, woof, ruff etc.

BUT when I was a child, storybooks used to say that the dog went Bow Wow!!

What was all that about!?!?

I've never heard a dog say that in all my life!

    Duncan makes what I would describe as normal dog noises barking,growling and yapping.Mollie on the other hand talks - not English but some sort of language I am sure, her whines and yips and hums, and moans all almost add up to words !!
